We had the good fortune of connecting with Jacqueline Williams, MS, RN-BC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jacqueline, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
At the end of my career I would like to know that I have contributed to global health by leaving an imprint through nursing and education. My life’s work is to address health disparities in vulnerable populations. There are many people without accurate health information or access. I am compelled to do my part to contribute knowledge for the greater good. I strive to make a positive impact by planting seeds and empowering others to take charge of their health.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Aspire Nursing Consultants, Inc. is my nurse consulting business. Aspire offers health education services for the community and ongoing competencies and education for medical staff. We provide mobile American Heart Association CPR classes; community and corporate health fair coordination; patient wellness coaching; Diabetes education classes; nursing education and a host of other nurse consulting services. In 2019, I founded Global Women’s Health Promotion which is a non-profit dedicated to addressing global health disparities affecting women and girls around the world. Our current initiatives focus on menstrual hygiene and STI education. We have contributed sanitary pads to women and girls in California, South Africa, Dominican Republic and Belize. Our STI education series with teens has received great feedback. I am so proud of the work we have done and excited for the future of GWHP. We look forward to reaching women and girls in need around the world. Both of my businesses have been huge steps of faith for me. I am learning to be patient as I watch the process unfold. I am constantly researching and assessing the needs of my customers. Providing a quality product is the main objective for both Aspire and GWHP.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Los Angeles and I am the resident tour guide for my family and friends who come out to visit! Driving up the PCH to Malibu is a must. I like to do lunch at Paradise Cove and sit on the beach to enjoy the scenery. Guests love a relaxing drive through the Canyons to view the city or a drive up to Palos Verdes for ocean views. I often make a stop at my favorite Ethiopian restaurant, Lalibela in Little Ethiopia. That is always a hit especially for 1st timers to Ethiopian food. My dining tastes vary so I usually treat guests to some of my favorite eateries. Crustaceans, Bestia, Din Tai Fung, My Two Cents, Harold & Belle’s, Orleans & York Deli are a few that come to mind!! Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles is a LA staple so that is usually my 1st stop with guests.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have been blessed to have people throughout my life who have prayed for me and encouraged me every step of the way. My 3 angels are my mother, my aunt/godmother and my grandmother. They were my biggest cheerleaders and so proud of me becoming a Registered Nurse. Even though they are no longer here, I feel their constant presence and guidance in everything that I do. Family support is everything. My two sisters and I encourage each other on our business ventures and are constantly discussing upcoming ideas and goals. I have a great network of friends who support as well. My wonderful mentor and friend, Toyin is a constant source of strength and encouragement!!
