We had the good fortune of connecting with Leah NaDeau and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Leah, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
How to know whether to keep going or to give up? I thought this was an amazing question, especially considering the time and hardships that have come along with COVID-19. I was two weeks away from expanding my business and opening up in a second location when the governor of North Dakota closed all nail salons down due to this horrific virus. I was heartbroken. I put all of my savings into opening up a second location. Now not only am I out of a job for a very uncertain amount of time, but I also have no fall back money. Believe me, in times like this all you want to do is throw in the towel. So do I keep going or do I give up? I’m going to keep going. Although I have to stop temporarily I know this is just a season. I love what I do. How could I ever walk away? Part of business is figuring out ways to get through the rough and not so pleasant times. If your heart is truly in it, there is no walking away, no giving up, no quitting. I will always follow my heart, always chasing my dreams, and I will always keep pushing forward. 101Customnails Leah NaDaeu

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I love creating beautiful works of art. When creating nail art on 10 tiny nails/canvases, it definitely takes a lot of patience and tons of practice. I can honestly say it’s not the easiest task to do, but I love a challenge. With each set you grow and improve your craft a little more. You learn what your comfortable doing as well as what techniques work for you. Every set is a learning experience. It’s all about growing while having fun. I recommend you practice, practice, practice. On top of the long hours of not giving up, you can also take a few classes. It never hurts to learn new techniques or take in pointers from someone new. Sometimes something small and simple can make a world of difference in your application. Don’t be afraid to try and learn new techniques.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m located in a small town so not much to do. I’d say we would need to grip some good food and get comfortable around a fire.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
