We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron Alexander and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk for me goes right along with sacrifice. You take a big risk, you make sacrifices, you end up reaping a big reward. I risked moving from Texas, leaving family, friends, a somewhat stable environment work-wise, to come to California and try to do bigger and better things that I’ve always dreamed about.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am an entertainer. Growing up I was that kid that put on dance shows in the living room for his parents whether they wanted them or not. I was reciting movie monologues or scenes before I even knew what an audition was. I got to where I am today by having a purpose and a goal. The goal is just to work. I love meeting new people and exploring new worlds and creating with like-minded individuals. Wasn’t always an easy journey. I didn’t know anyone in the industry to look up to or ask questions. My high school was small and didn’t have a theatre department. I didn’t truly get an understanding of what acting was until I went to college, and then I was taught that every day on set or in rehearsal or on stage, is a learning experience, and just like the martial arts I already knew what it meant to be a “life long student”. So many lessons have been learned and the education process, I feel, is nowhere near over. Be able to take direction. Don’t be afraid to make choices, even if they are wrong. It’s ok to be obsessed with the things that bring you joy. So many more. As for what the world needs to know about me… You’ll get to know me very soon.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m still fairly new to California, so I don’t have all of those answers, but for sure eating wise we’re heading to Bludsoe’s BBQ and Pinks Hotdogs. As for fun… I’m a big kid so Dave & Buster’s has gotten A LOT of love from me in my lifetime and any place with a batting cage/putt putt golf combo is a destination worth checking out. I love the movies so I most definitely would have us check out the Alamo Drafthouse. I’d also just hit up a bowling alley to really bring it home.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout could be dedicated to so many, but I’ll cover all the bases by just saying God, family, and friends. God for giving me the talents that I’ve been born with. Family for the constant support, and friends for inspiring me and helping me along this wild ride of a journey. As for books, I was a “bible baby” growing up and still to this day rely on a few messages within it. As I got older and started training in the martial arts, which also deserve their own shoutout, I looked to books like The Hagakure, Book of Five Rings, The Art of War, and even The Tao of Jeet Kund Do.
