Meet Aaryaman Kakar | Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaryaman Kakar and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaryaman, why did you pursue a creative career?
There are two reasons behind this:
1) I was very indecisive on my career choice, my ambitions varied from (a career in sports to law to pursuing my family business and acting as well.)
The reason I decided to choose acting was because through this medium I would get the opportunity to
pursue an honest version of those professions perhaps at least once in my lifetime.
Be it on street, on stage, on television or even in the theatre.
2) The second reason was because I wanted to use the art form for contributing to my social responsibility alongside my personal aims. I believe as an actor, I am the voice of the voiceless and the expressions of the expressionless.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a South asian actor in Los Angeles, one thing I was always aware was about how the work process is limited for me, hence I would have to work extra hard and strive more than the average American to try and create a name for myself. Today, I don’t limit myself with the kind of work or type of work I get. Eventually in a few years, I’m optimistic enough to tell you I will have a line of work in front of me and I will be choosing what to work on because i.e. Karma, reciprocity.
During my journey until now, I’ve learned that you can get work even 2 hours before a scheduled shoot which you might have not even been part of. Recalling my mysterious and special casting from a project by a dear friend filmmaker
Yashvi Mulchandani, I was casted 2 hours before the shoot to replace the former actor at her set.
At that moment,
I didn’t think of problems such as “will I be able to memo-rise the lines? ” “will I be a one scene actor?”
“what if I don’t perform well?” I just took a few deep breaths and believed in myself and it turned out amazing. Most importantly gained respect in her eyes and of the fellow filmmakers on set as well.
I just want the world to know, when a problem arrives never look at the problem like a problem rather like an opportunity and use it to make things even better. It’s much better than crying about it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’d say I take my best friend to the best Indian cuisine restaurant called India’s Tandoori. It has some of the best and delicious Indian food in all of California and I’m one of their regular customers. Apart from this I’d also make my friends checkout Barney’s Beanery restaurant/club in downtown burbank.
It’s one of the most sweet places to chill during the night, good atmosphere and beautiful vibe.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to take a moment and give a shoutout to my mom Aradhana Kakar and my dad Rajit Kakar for always supporting me throughout my journey from financial to emotional to motivational and so many times psychologically as well.
It’s their genuine belief that’s made me push myself in America rising from hatred and depression to becoming a
confident strong individual.
