Meet Abbey Scott | Music Artist, Songwriter, Influencer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Abbey Scott and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Abbey, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
The most important decision I’ve made that has contributed to my success is not depending on anyone else but myself. Theres so many times in life where you think that it comes down to someone else seeing your talent or believing in you but truly its about YOU believing in YOU. If you wait for that person, they may never come. All of my success have happened when I stopped waiting for that person and became that person for myself. You need to believe in yourself when no one else does and it takes work, time, persistence and being okay with rejection. You can’t let anything sway you from what you believe to be true. Invest in yourself, be your biggest cheerleader and in this day and age you can truly do it all yourself. You don’t need anyone to say yes but YOU!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am first and foremost a Music Artist and Songwriter. I grew up in a musical family so I grew up listening to best music and falling in love with it. I was very lucky to have a father that was an incredible songwriter helping me and starting with me from scratch in the studio. We played live shows, we recorded countless demos in our home studio, we co-wrote songs, we argued about how I should sound as an Artist but all of it molded me into the songwriter and artist I am today. Following your dreams is never easy but I always followed my heart and if I had an opportunity to share my talent, I took the opportunity. I never allowed other’s judgements or criticisms to stop me from being me. I really had a ton of success when I came across live-streaming and with platforms such as Periscope, LiveMe, MeetMe, TikTok, I was able to build my own stage and my audience was waiting. I was able to connect in real time with fans all over the world and share my music. I’m beyond proud that in this difficult business, I was able to be my own boss and take control of my career. I want the world to know that it hasn’t been an easy road but I never given up on my dreams or myself. I work everyday to get my music out into the world and leave my mark. It’s so important to me to leave my mark.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am born and raised in the Los Angeles area so I am always being asked what are the hot spots and where to go when visiting. I am so lucky to live near the beach so going down to Malibu is a must. I grew up going to Paradise Cove and I love being near the ocean. If you drive down PCH, you end up at the Santa Monica Pier which is beautiful. I love going on small adventures and driving around LA. Fun spots if you want to do touristy stuff is 3rd Street Promenade, Venice Boardwalk, Rodeo Drive, Hollywood Blvd, Griffin Observatory plus you can see the Hollywood sign and take some Kodak moments. I also recommend going to see some live music at Hotel Cafe, there’s always incredible artists playing there. Some of my favorite restaurants in LA are Casa Vega (best Mexican food) and you are almost guaranteed to see someone famous, there’s countless amazing Italian restaurants you can choose from; Oste, Donna’s, Ospi and the list goes on. If you want to have some interactive fun, I definitely recommend going to Benihana’s. I went for my birthday this year and I had such an amazing time. Oh and if you can get in, check out the Magic Castle and go to Yamashiro thats right above it, the best Asian restaurant.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to take this moment to Shoutout my parents. I know it sounds corny but if it wasn’t for my parents having my back, I would not have had my success. They supported me in all of my endeavors and never made me feel like I had to be like everybody else. My dad had success as Songwriter writing songs for Air Supply “Here I am”, Selena “Where Did the Feeling Go?” but he knew how hard the Music industry could be. When he saw my passion for music, he dived into working with me as a Singer and a Songwriter. I can’t believe to explain how important it is to have support when you are pursuing a career in the Entertainment and Music business. With their support, I was able to take on the world and to know they would always be there, is invaluable. So thanks mom and dad! You rock!
