We had the good fortune of connecting with Abigail Castillo Roxas and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Abigail Castillo, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It all started during the pandemic, with owning a business most would focus to invest and profit, but with owning a business with a main goal is to serve the community and change peoples lives is what drives a business to stay in the business it may not be as profitable but its sustainable. A business that is more relational than transactional.

What should our readers know about your business?
MovEssential Studio was established 2021 during pandemic time, the commercial unit was originally a 25 year old existing print shop we purchased 2018, got burn 2019 rebuild then pandemic hits so its from one loss to another loss. Before pandemic lockdown me and my partner were doing this Rebound Fitness on Boots 2019 introduce by a gym in Long Beach we go to, we used this physical activity to keep sane and active in the most difficult time were everyone is lock inside and not allowed to go out. We started doing Facebook live class for free to encourage everyone to stay active and the rest is history. To date our studio serves Carson and nearby cities for community workout for 3 years now.

Resilience, Love for People, Purpose over Passion is what in a short time we realized what we need to focus on.

Realizing that in life there’s a bigger purpose for each one of us, we just need to be open with what is in front of us, maybe it’s what we are blessed to do, not to live in regret, accept the good and the bad and carry on.

We want to be known as a place where we give anyone a chance to be who they want to be, keep a healthy lifestyle, a safe space to learn and grow for those who desire to serve as a fitness instructor and be a productive asset to the community.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Of course we want everyone that would visit Los Angeles to try our MovEssential Fitness Studio as one of the Pioneer on offering Rebound Fitness on Boots Classes!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It’s a living testimony of my life that you will not know what and where life would bring you. I’m where i’m at now doing what I found as my why is because of the things that happened to my life. What the pandemic taught us, the family we have, the opportunity that came and the courage to continue life as it unfolds. If your gonna ask me did I see myself being who I am now back then? nope not even in my dream or imagination. So I’m grateful to the people who continued to believe in me, my family, my MovEssential team and clients and most especially Alejandra Leyva for giving me the opportunity and believing in me that we can make a difference in the world one person at a time.
