We had the good fortune of connecting with Adaire Byerly and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adaire, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
First, I have to point out that the word ‘risk’ is branched to a negative definition. I focus on that because our association and belief system have a huge impact on words and the way we perceive them. Risk means that there is a possibility that someone will be harmed or in danger. Why is this so important? Because the association with danger is what causes fear, and fear causes us to stay in place. You see our brains are hard wired to choose the path of least resistance or in other words, keep us alive. So “fear” is a very natural experience, we shy away from things that will change our current reality. However, fear and danger are not the same thing. Why? Because fear is inside of you. And danger is outside of you. It is absolutely possible to have no fear but still be aware of the danger outside of you. If we use the word risk, we trigger the experience of fear and If you want to succeed in life, you can not lead with fear. When I stepped out and took on my business venture, I had many people point out my ‘risks’. In order for me to cut out the experience of fear, I had to replace that word with ‘chance’ so that I could focus on the potential gain rather than the danger. Starting my business and pushing it to the world was the best decision I ever made. Was it hard? Yes because there was no road map on the area I decided to focus on. Does I continue to face challenges? Yes, but leading with stubbornness and determination really opened doors for me that I did not even see before. So I will always say to take the chances. Chance changes your life.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Entertainment Mindframe enhances the business of fame through brain and behavioral sciences. We provide intellectual trainings and strategies that program an individual’s mind to survive fame, strengthen communication and flourish in business. Our focus point is with creative teams behind large brands or celebrities in sectors of Entertainment such as Media, Sports and the world Fashion. We eliminate the intangible and infamous issues in show business that hinder a companies or brands growth. After the application of our methods, we have seen an increase in revenue, employee retention rate, turn around times and work load capacity, as well as eliminating miscommunication and preventing damaging repercussions. Entertainment Mindframe is the first company to bring cognitive sciences into the business of fame. I broke into the industry a little over a decade ago as a professional model and commercial actress. Throughout my years I was fortunate to work with a tier of professionals that lead me to being featured in Vogue and earned my eligibility to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild. I took all the first hand experience and decided to dive into brain and behavioral sciences. The past 5 years I spent being a nerd and gaining proper credentials to bring my company to life. I also spent a year out of those 5 laying the legal foundation and gathering the correct team of scientist behind this. It was not easy because it was a concept that had never been done before. I realized I had to stop going to others for advice because the vision and idea was mine, and it was my responsibility to make it happen and create something new. It is not easy doing things that are not popular. You have to be willing to be misunderstood and judged, it will force you to get better at communicating and teaching others.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I travel to LA quite a bit for work so I am not a permanent resident but I can say my favorite city to visit is Santa Monica. I will always try to find a peaceful place to hike or drive, and cool spots to eat along the way. I will also try to attend scientific lectures at the top universities or research centers. There is a lot of history to Los Angeles so visiting a museum or historical places is always a super cool experience. Although I work in a world of fame, I actually am not too big on going to the “Hot spots” or events where there is a lot of people so I like to take much time to myself to regroup and stay grounded.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Growing up with parents as successful entrepreneurs really helped engrain a business intuition that most people go to school for. I learned firsthand how to lay a foundation of a successful company, so I have to give credit to my parents for taking that chance and unknowingly programming us to be leaders of change. I also have to recognize Julian Sado, who is the yoda behind major business leaders and millionaires. He was a voice in my ear during the transition of me stepping into my future. I often thank him for the verbal slaps he would give me when I back tracked as he would shoot it to me straight and remind me that I had to face the parts of myself I was trying to avoid. Having those tough talks and accountability really helped keep my head straight as I leaned into the life I was building for myself.
