We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Ambuske and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, why did you pursue a creative career?
It always felt like what was most true to myself. For as long as I can remember, I always had a camera in my hand. When I began my film freelance business at the beginning of high school, my motivation was always because I loved doing it, and it never felt like work. The joy I get from bringing a film or project together never gets old. A major driving factor is my enjoyment of seeing how people react differently to my work.

When college rolled around, and USC accepted me, it felt like a no-brainer choice. I knew film was the path I wanted to pursue, and USC offers a more rounded education than an arts college. I graduated in May 2023 in Film Production with a minor in business. Since then, I’ve moved full-time to LA and continued working on my freelance business. Even though it’s become more business-focused, my primary motivation still comes from the creativity I get to bring to each project.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What I get most excited about is how versatile creativity is. Whether shooting a short film in Texas one week or shooting aerial drone footage the next, it all feels exciting using different variations to share my perspective. My business has really become multifaceted in how my projects range from short films to commercials, music videos, photo shoots, social media short-form content, drone piloting, to filming and editing a touring comedy show. One day I’ll begin to settle on a niche, but at this point in my career, I enjoy testing my creativity in a wide array of forms.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In my eyes, the ideal way to show off LA would start with a morning hike through Temescal Canyon, followed by a swim in the ocean if it’s nice weather. Fast-forward to lunch, I’d probably take them to Yunomi Handroll and spend the afternoon shopping and walking around Abbot Kinney or Century City. Then, most likely finish the day with dinner at Petit Trois, and if we still have energy, head over to The Edition on Sunset for a great night out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
It’s impossible to pick out one person or group. So many individuals have supported me through the years, from the client who hired me for my first freelance project to my family and friends who have supported me the whole way. Specifically, I’d like to thank my friends and family, USC School of Cinematic Arts, and all the incredible people I’ve had the honor to work with; I would not be here today without them.
