We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Zimmon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
So far, I think being present as much as possible. It’s hard work and you have to learn every step, but I’m hoping that spending as much time as I can with them at a young age will give them a strong sense of self-worth that helps them with challenges later in life.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I have been a professional musician for all of my adult life. One of the things I love about it is the communal experience of creating music with others. it’s a fairly unique thing in the arts. I love that people get together, they can be strangers or close friends, and through music, they just create something out of nothing. In some ways i think that has been the thing that has brought me success, I’m not that interested in impressing with my skills or whatever, I just mostly like the joy of collaborating and creating with others. It’s such a special thing that is unique to being a musician. It’s usually not easy and I always have a pretty bad case of “imposter syndrome” but once I’m with other musicians and the music starts most of my anxieties and issues seem to fall away. It’s beautiful. I am very proud that I have been able to have this experience at the highest level with so many incredible artists, From Ziggy Marley, and Vida Blue, to Shakira and Glen Cambell. It’s not only the well-known artists, it’s all my bandmates and friends. It’s shared humanity and its a key ingredient that helps motivate me and overcome challenges.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
go on a food tour, gotta do street food, tacos etc. sushi, mediteranian,
hit the coast, the beaches and westside neighborhoods,
then all the musems, Broad, LACMA, MOCA and jurrasic technology of course.
head to some hikes, griffith park and drive the angeles crest highway.
of course search out so local music at Hotel Cafe, or club Tee Gee and if possible see a show at the hollywood bowl or the greek

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Two shout outs come to mind. I’d like to shout out to all my great friends and mentors in music that I have been lucky to know and work with. It’s through them that I have had, and continue to have so many great experiences and I am continuously inspired and grateful for all the amazing people that are in my life. Most importantly, I want to shout out to my amazing wife and life partner who along with being an amazing mother, is the most supportive and inspiring person I know.
