We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Ceja and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrian, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
This is so relevant to me today. I love working and I love tending to things that are supposed to grow, but that “all grind” mentality can backfire- as I had experienced.

There was a time when I had feelings of fear and anxiety for no known reason. But eventually I learned that it was from agitation, stress, and burnout.

Don’t get me wrong, I love working, especially on my business, as I had mentioned. But I had to learn the hard way that we must work when it is time to work, and rest when it is time to rest. Your future self is dependent on it. Plus, as a wellness professional, I should know better. Your mind and body can only take on so much at a time. It will eventually need to recover, rejuvenate, and restore.

If we don’t have these things, we’re likely not thriving in our work.

When we’re not rested and working through stress and tiredness, we compromise our efficiency, creativity, and effectiveness. Today, I gladly incorporate a rest routine into my week. That generally consist of meal prepping, relaxing or spending time with family.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Not easy, but definitely worth it. I’m a firm believer of starting a business around something that you absolutely love. It should be around something that you stand for and something that feels like a fight.

For example people need fitness and health in their life, and my fight and life’s mission is trying to impact people through it. That’s challenging, but it’s also something I’m proud of because when I endure a challenge I know that I do it for people who need help in this area.

I strive for personal and professional development constantly. I believe that’s one of the things that helps me to overcome life‘s challenges. Hard ships will come and most people use that to quit or try something new. They don’t stick it out over the long term.

Over the years, one of the things Ive learned is that you have to know yourself and be very self-aware. What I mean is it’s important to know your habits, know what your weaknesses are, and know what your tendencies are.

And if any of these are not aligned with your future self or what you want to accomplish then some things need to change.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I once had a boss from a gym that I had previously worked at several years ago, named Josh Kaplan.

He was definitely a steppingstone in my life towards entrepreneurship. He saw things in me that I didn’t see it myself, and he would challenge me and push me to my fullest and greatest potential.

Not to mention, the push probably came from wanting me to hit sales quotas, but that’s okay. I think he did still genuinely like me on staff, haha.
