We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Uriostegui and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrian, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
I grew up as a suburban kid, so a lot of my life was spent playing video games, listening to songs on my iPod nano, and watching movies. I was constantly surrounded by art, in any form, so working as a creative now is hardly a surprise to me. A lot of my drive comes from how I was raised. Being an immigrant family, my parents always worked tirelessly to make sure my brother and I even had the opportunity to think about doing something more with our lives. Their constant support has pushed me to be who I am today.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think it’s important to look for and understand the perspective of other people; how they feel, how they act, and art is a perfect medium to express these emotions. I’m very big on mental health and staying true to who you are, so a lot of my music/art reflects that. I just released 2 singles for my metal band Wave of Discord, and I’m working on new material with my other band ForgetxTomorrow! It’s quite a lot of work to juggle all these things comfortably, and it definitely has caused sleepless nights and some grey hairs, but being an independent artist has its sense of accomplishment that I probably couldn’t find anywhere else. I want to express myself through my medium, and even if no one is listening, there’s nothing else I’d rather be doing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m more of a stay-at-home kinda guy so I might not be the best person to be answering this questions. Most people think LA is the place where all the cool, entertaining places are, but the heart of Southern California is really in Orange County. Getting burgers at TK Burger and then lighting a bonfire until the sun goes down, probably one of the most common yet memorable afternoons you could have in So-Cal. I’m mainly into music though, so music venues like Anaheim House of Blues and Chain Reaction are usually where I’d like to be on the weekends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Diego Uriostegui | URG Studios

As an audio engineer, my brother and URG Studios has played a huge part in helping me understand how to navigate my life through my art. We’ve spent days on end in the studio, experimenting on new ideas and methods to recording and I feel like we’ve grown closer because of it. He’s one of the most talented audio engineers I know, and one of the most hard working people I know.
