We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriane McLean and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriane, what are you inspired by?
Other actors. Especially those who have been working at their craft for years and finally get the recognition they deserve.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am beyond grateful to call myself a full time working actor. Most people in America see acting as a hobby unless you are a huge celebrity. They don’t realize all the time, money and scarifies it takes to get to that celebrity status. But the life of a working actor can look a multitude of ways. I work as a standardized patient for the University, I was in a live weekly show, and I audition and book work in tv, commercials and films. The tax man says I make my living as an actor and I am very proud of that.
It’s not an easy business at all but if you love it then it keeps pulling you back in no matter how many times you may need a break.
I have been fortunate to book work in some major projects like Kevin Costner’s Horizon An American Saga currently streaming on MAX, The Really Loud House on Nickelodeon and OWN’s Queen Sugar to name a few.
I am a very driven person and it’s hard for me to take no as an answer. My drive has gotten me some amazing opportunities and I’m excited for what the future holds.
And knowing this business hard and only one person can book the job, I have created two web series that I am very proud of. One is Dating Games LA which was a “choose your own adventure” dating web series where the audience picked what happens in the next episode. And The Bench, which is a fun series about the weird things that happen on a park bench. Check them both out on Youtube. Season Two The Bench is in the works.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Oh that’s easy! The Ocean! I love being near the water. It’s so calming and peaceful. I could spend the whole day at the beach. Eating in restaurants by the water, digging my feet in the sand, walking up and down the shore line, and watching the sunset. And depending on how cold the water is floating in the ocean is a fun experience that has many challenges but ignites my sense of danger and brings serenity.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank Luz Ozuna for recommending me to Shoutout LA. We meet a couple of years ago on the set of a short film sponsored by Netflix, directed by Eli Vazquez and cast by @starandcresentcastings and we have stayed in touch ever since.
But I have to thank everyone who has ever supported me! This business is tough and having a good support system is crucial to keep going when the roller coaster of life is going at full speed.
