We had the good fortune of connecting with Adriano De Ferrari and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Adriano, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I feel like risk is such an important thing to have in mind when wanting to do something good for your life, there is always a risk of loosing something or getting in an uncomfortable position if failing. Ok, lets say you take the risk and you fail, at least you had the encouragement to stand up for yourself and trying hard to accomplish your goal. For me that is everything.
Im a very “carpe diem” type of guy and risk has been there always for me, risk of making mistakes while playing live, risk of getting injured, but mostly taking the risk of leaving everything in chile (my country) and dedicating my life to music.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
playing guitar got me into music, then I got into some local bands in chile, you could say my style was mostly classic rock and some garage rock too, at the same time I was very curious about producing and creating so, I started going to one of my dad’s friend’s studio who is an audio engineer and music producer , he showed the ways of recording and making a solid song. In chile the urban reggaeton scene is huge, so that influenced my music a lot.
I wanted to learn from the best people in the world, so I decided to move to LA and study music.
My personal musical project started in 2021 and since then my style has changed a lot. I have some funk, psychedelic rock, EDM and some urban latin music too. I try to adapt to any genre, always leaving a part of me in every song, something that you can hear and say: “that sounds like Adriano”
It wasn’t easy to innovate something but living here in LA made me see all the different styles in music and to be able to take a part of that and make it mine.
How I create? I just try to relax and see whats going on in my life at the moment. if there are any emotions attached to someone, then I grab my guitar and just express what Im feeling.
Something that really surprised me is that LA is full of artists in any genre. I got to meet a lot of talented musicians and magicians. When I was a kid I also did magic as a hobby. When I got here, I started hanging out with some magicians and took this hobby of mine way more serious.
I do music and magic.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would probably take him surfing with me, grab some burgers at shake shack, probably do a couple hikes and for sure go to venice or santa monica pier for him to have the whole LA experience. at night music shows for sure, lets say its a tuesday night, the perfect place to hang is Bar lis, they have some really good live soul/jazz/ funky music going on, the band is always tight and and the singers kill it. any other day I would take him to black rabbit rose (actually it is one of the places I work there sometimes doing audio) Amazing musicians and different bands every day wednesday-saturday. For sure I would try to get him to go to the magic castle one day, that place is sick!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I just want to thank to all the people that supported me and believed in the potential of my music. I want to thank my family for believing that I can do it, to come to the states and achieve my dreams.
