We had the good fortune of connecting with Afimaye Galarraga and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Afimaye, how does your business help the community?
It’s no brainer the fact that what we call “life” is forever changing. The issue is, regardless of whether or not we are ready for such change(s), life does not stop to accommodate us. Ancestral and Spiritual Healing is not just my business. It is my walk of life. I have chosen to honor the calling because I naturally care for humankind and I also know that much of what people feel tormented by in their life, they lack support and understanding in. My line of work, as an Ancestral Healer and a Spiritual Life Coach, offers the community clear guidance in understanding where is it they are falling short, the why behind it, and how to fix it. Through Ancestral Healing, I offer my clients an extra set of unbiased eyes and, an in-depth view on how they got to the mess they might find themself in. And through Spiritual Life Coaching, I provide them with the needed support and accountability that allows them to thrive. As spiritual beings having a human experience, we tend to live in denial of the truth and justifying the unacceptable. I am the one that puts you face to face with your truth so that it can no longer be hidden and thus, give yourself the opportunity to step up and win.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The kind of life coaching I see these days, is good in nature, but, oftentimes it’s presented as an easy “just follow steps one through five and all will be fine” model, when in reality it’s never that easygoing. I do not believe anyone’s journey is easy. It was never meant to be. And therefore, when guiding clients into their own transformative journey, it is important to me to make it clear the path towards healing and ultimate freedom, is not pretty and it’s quite messy.

I’m known to have a direct, no-nonsense and raw approach, but my clients do say I present it with a foundation of love, compassion, empathy and no judgment. When in my presence, it is extremely important to me for my clients to feel they are in a safe place to allow themselves to be vulnerable and open. One can not achieve this when feeling judged. In every session, I make it clear to my clients the fact that I am not better than them. I am just a human being gifted with a divine ability to see what attempts to remain unclear to others, and my job is to assist you in seeing and accepting what the ego loves to ignore and hide.

One of the greatest tools that has helped me to get to where I am now is, lots of observation. Today’s world climate teaches you to stay busy and be on the go. But that continuous motion is exactly what interferes with ones ability to listen, process, understand, and grow in a healthy manner. Ever since I was a child I would always love to listen to the elders. While other children my age would be playing games and having child-like fun, I’d be attentive and observing how the grownups would do things. Growing up in a full-time and active spiritual working home, allowed me to witness transformational changes in many peoples lives. This was the primary training ground for me.

What excites me the most about my line of work, aside from the great joy I feel when being able to witness people become the best version of themselves, is, keeping alive the teachings of the many elders I grew up around. Their legacy and contribution to Mother Earth is of most importance to me. I profoundly believe I am the living voice of my Ancestors and deceased elders. Their work, knowledge, and magick, is kept alive through me and in everything I do for my clients and my community.

Spiritual healing work is ever-evolving because the needs of the world is not always the same all the time. So one challenge that often reveals itself is, when people find it difficult to break free from what was originally taught to them. A great challenge is breaking the wheel and creating a new template for your life. As a human being and a spiritual healer, I understand this best because I too was once unable to break free from rigid patterns that kept me stuck in a loop. It takes time to understand and accept that our parents and caretakers “did the best they could with the information they had” (as stated by Iyanla Vanzant), and that stepping away from what they did in order to survive, is not disrespectful to their memory and teachings. I always say, different times brings around different needs. I was able to overcome this inner-conflict by being thankful for what my parents were able to do for me, while learning how to honor my voice and needs with choices that may differ from that which was taught to me.

One of my deepest goals as an Ancestral Healer and Spiritual Life Coach, is to continue reaching the masses with the tools and guidance they need to set their imprisoned inner-spirit free. Nothing in this life, is greater than freedom. Mental freedom. Spiritual freedom. Physical freedom. And emotional freedom. We were born to be free.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend is visiting from out of town, I would make sure to keep my options open to accommodate the likings of my visitor. But for the most part, I’m all for relaxation and spontaneity. I’m happy to say though, most of the people I am close to are the same as me. They love the quiet times as much as I do. The day would start with a yummy soul-filling breakfast. I’d allow my guest to choose whether breakfast is in-home or outdoors. If choosing a public spot, then the Toast Bakery Cafe would be a breakfast spot to go to (their French toast is amazing). Vivian’s Millennium Cafe is also a great location. Needless today, I’m all in for foods. LOL!

What’s a great time win Los Angeles without some good sightseeing? Impossible. If my best friend is up to it, we would start by visiting the Hollywood, CA area and hopping on a tour. I’m all about tours. One in particular would be the Warner Brothers Studios tour. It’s exciting to see the different locations where so many iconic movies have been filmed.

Our days would consist of tours, sightseeing, lots of eating, visiting museums, botanical gardens, water-themed adventures, spas for some great massages and pampering time, and of course a couple of decent (not too crowded) bars to toast at.

Los Angeles also has an array of great crystal and spiritual shops that must be visited. One of them is GypsyLuv Metaphysical shop. A place that sits in my heart because of the loving and friendly nature plus the fact that the loving owners are my spiritual God children. Another wonderful crystal shop is the well known House Of Intuition, a placed I have hosted many classes at and have also worked at as a spiritual healer, medium and clairvoyant reader.

California also has super great scenic spots to meditate at, do yoga, and just connect with Mother Earth in whichever way your soul and inner-spirit requires. If you want to do it by water, we have Malibu Beach, Newport Beach (one of my favorite), Santa Monica beach and many more. But there’s also no lack of mountains if being by water is not your thing. I’m always open to both, so I would lay down the possibilities and allow my guest(s) to choose.

Since spiritual healing is definitely my thing, any friend of mine for the most part, will be open to participating in a spiritual healing. I would facilitate a custom themed healing in the specific area of need and/or concern for my best friend, And most nights would end with great conversation and storytelling around a fire pit.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My spiritual life coaching journey began at an early age. I was born into the Afro-Cuban practice of “Espiritismo” (Spiritism), which is the ability to connect and communicate with the inanimate spiritual world. In such settings, you witness how the Divine comes in to correct what we humanly mess up. From as young as 7 years of age, I witnessed elders in my community do this work. Specifically, my beloved Mother Alejandra Galarraga, which is my first shoutout. I owe the development of my spiritual abilities to many whom have already transitioned and who I honor on a daily basis. One of these great individuals is my late Godfather Domingo. And two other great souls who also witnessed and contributed to my spiritual formation are, Evangelina Reve (known by everyone as Eva) and, Natividad Casanova (known by everyone as Nati). These ladies have also departed the earthly realm.
