Meet Ahmad Dugas: Film & Television Actor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahmad Dugas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ahmad, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
From the moment I received my first acrylic paint set and canvas as a child I was always fascinated with the idea of creating something out of nothing. As an actor – I breathe and create moments for the audience that didn’t exist before. I find that quite powerful. The pursuit was a natural choice when I discovered I wouldn’t be happier doing anything else.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My art is using my unique instrument (my whole self) in the arena of acting. What excites me about the craft is that I’m always learning something new, it requires total commitment and there is a certain intimacy with yourself that you gain. I cast a powerful presence on camera and that sets me apart. I’ve been acting for 15 years – half of those years in LA. Ups and downs go with the territory but making the decision to weather any storm to enjoy the sunshine makes you a stronger person. My motto is Yes Plan A. That means my only focus is on my plan A – becoming the best most successful actor I can be. I say yes to that goal and that choice keeps me going. I’ve been blessed to work on many projects in LA and will continue to strive for more. I want to be a leader for others to take the journey towards their dreams and goals believing they are worthy. The length of life is never promised so that journey is well worth it.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The great thing about living in LA is the incredible weather year around so being outside is a bonus most days. My go to chill spot is Zuma Beach, I can’t get enough of that place especially if you are there early enough to catch the dolphins. You also have to grab some the best tacos in my opinion at Sky’s Gourmet Tacos. Hiking is a staple in the city – my two favorites are Temescal Canyon and Sandstone Peak. Stop by Mezcalero bar in DTLA for the killer lemon pepper wings and happy hour.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There is quote that says. “While things may seem small, the ripple effects can be extraordinary” While I may be a large presence, my creative journey started in the small film community of Tulsa, Oklahoma. My first acting teachers – Milton Berry and Mary Neff – were instrumental in building my belief in myself. In my success story, they gave me the book, the pen and said run with it.
