We had the good fortune of connecting with Aishwarya Kirawant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aishwarya, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I pursued an artistic/creative career because it is something I am very passionate about. Every song or video I create is a small part of me and my imagination. It is an outlet for me to put my emotions and create something meaningful that inspires others to create as well. Creating music is also a language in itself. It can move, motivate, or make a person reflect on their own life. It is a reminder to those that feel alone that they aren’t alone.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Hi, I’m Yung Curry! I’m an Asian American Artist from San Diego, CA. I have been creating music since high school. Looking back, I have come a long way. I think the hardest thing I struggled with as an artist was trying to balance my life as a student as well. Also having the pressure of making my parents happy with my career choice was also difficult. I believe what set me apart from others is that I will jump on as many opportunities as I can. I used to perform at talent shows, and summer camps, and I even performed at college orientation! I enjoyed putting myself out there as an artist constantly regardless of people’s opinions. Because of my experience performing, I have been blessed with many opportunities to perform with internships with Hb Entertainment, Samsung & More. Recently, I have been able to perform almost 5 sold-out shows with 600+ people. And 2 of my very own headline shows! I believe that anything you want in life is attainable its a matter of your work ethic and consistency to show up every day and put in work.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
San Diego is such an exciting city! I would definitely take them to Kogi Korean BQQ in Convoy. They have really good food, good music and is very lively. Next, I would go to the Torrey Pines Glider Port. There’s an amazing view of the ocean and a view of La Jolla beach and the city. Another spot would be Kate Sessions where there’s a sparkling view of the city and a huge grassy area to have a picnic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to my friend and partner, Zhamir. Zhamir also know as Zammer is an extremely talent videographer and editor I work with. He has a way to bring exciting and vivid visuals to his audience. I am very grateful to him because I had the opportunity to create some dope music videos and projects with him. He really helped me express my music in a visual way. Here’s his Instagram if you wanna check it out! @_zammer_
