We had the good fortune of connecting with Alana Jacobs and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alana, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?

Always striving to do and be better than what I did yesterday. I try not to get complacent, and after every event, every client I ask for feedback, I review my own performance to see where I can improve.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?

My company is primarily a Personal Chef company with a focus on intimate dining experiences. What sets me apart from others is my ability to fuse different cuisines & techniques to deliver comfort food in unique and elevated ways. It wasn’t easy starting this business. I hadn’t been directly connected to the industry in years, so my contacts were minimal. I really just had my drive and passion for cooking. I built it one client at a time, referral to referral. I constantly ask for feedback and evaluate my own performance to deliver the most amazing dining experience possible. I want the world to know the passion behind my brand, the connections that I build with my clients through my food & products, and the joy that it brings me to see them experiencing it as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live in the best city in the world, NYC! But as a busy New Yorker, I rarely find the time to be a tourist in my own city. Always first on this list is a great brunch spot. It’s one of my favorite meals to prepare & certainly to eat. I try to find Black/Women/ Minority owned places as we are so under represented. Next on the list is a place that makes killer cocktails with a great view or ambiance. Lastly would be spending the day roaming taking in the sights at Governors Island, Highline Park or take in a Broadway show.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband who is a constant source of encouragement & support. Not just emotional, but physically as well. As a small business owner its all hands on deck, so he jumps in whenever I need the car packed, or supplies picked up, or just making sure that no matter how busy I am we find the balance.
