Meet Alec Milstein | Business Owner and Licensed Contractor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alec Milstein and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alec, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
During and after 2020, many people had a new need for quiet workspaces. Acoustic Fabric Interiors addresses the need for functional spaces that are aesthetically pleasing, while reducing noise pollution. A comfortable space increases productivity and ultimately has also health benefits beyond the aesthetics.
Acoustic Fabric Interiors creates a comfortable atmosphere where professionals and customers enjoy a conversation and can hear each other in a more relaxed way. Crowded shared places like restaurants can be very noisy and may benefit from a better acoustic environment.
Acoustic fabric treatment also improves the sound quality in private home offices, podcast rooms, theaters and recording studios, as well as commercial recording and production studios, fitness centers, healthcare offices, education, hospitality, industrial, commercial and retail spaces.
As media outlets and social platforms proliferate sound treatment improves the audio performance for podcasters and media personalities, as well as their end users and listeners.
There is also an eco-friendly factor involved. Acoustic fabric treatment helps insure a more focused work environment, and at the same time it has a green impact when used in public settings. As such, people can improve their work performance in acoustically treated spaces in the comfort of their home office, podcast room or recording studio without commuting.
I was a professional musician, composer and arranger. In my youth I developed a passion for carpentry too and have trained as a carpenter. Later I worked for various contractors in Los Angeles. Soon this transitioned into getting my own contractors’ license and having a carpentry business of my own. After years of hard work and dedication, I have refined my work to be only acoustic treatments.
Having also worked in music for decades as a professional musician and composer, is in fact an advantage. I have a very specialized approach to sound. This also helps me better understand my clients’ needs, and especially in our culturally rich local creative, artistic, and business community. I have had the pleasure of working for many talented artists as a musician, and with accomplished designers, brilliant creatives, business owners and organizations over my long career with Acoustic Fabric Interiors.
I am proud to support local businesses, artists, innovators, celebrities, and creative people. The best part of my job is being part of the community, and to know that my service helps my clientele work at their best and succeed in what they do.
At Acoustic Fabric Interiors I am always happy to provide expert and contemporary acoustic solutions customized to my clients’ needs, and spaces.
It will be my pleasure to design and create more customized solutions also for particularly noisy spaces nearby airports, innovation centers and technology hubs too. As a proud small business based in LA, I am honored to serve Los Angeles county and all of California by designing and installing creative sound solutions with elegant high quality custom design treatment and the latest materials for any residential and commercial space.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would suggest going to the California Science Center, an inspiring science and learning space for all ages. Great exhibits, and a chance to see the Endeavour itself and the space shuttle program. Plan also on watching one of the fabulous 3D documentaries at the IMAX at the Center which is a state-of-the-art theater with dramatic sound.
Go for a rich brunch feast at Republique Café and Bakery on La Brea Avenue.
Pick a night to listen to amazing musicians and artists at the Baked Potato and at the Catalina Jazz Club. Have a late Neapolitan pizza night nearby at Antica Pizzeria Da Michele.
Visit the Venice Heritage Museum to discover about the Venice of America’s incredibly rich history and learn about its vibrant multicultural artistic present with Buried Years that features the research and work of students at Venice Arts. Enjoy a stroll by the Venice canals. Book an original co-op play like Miracle on 55th Street at the local Pacific Resident Theater and enjoy local actors’ great performances.
Plan a visit to the Hammer Museum in Westwood to see their vast permanent collection and explore their exhibits like the biennial Made in L.A. featuring artists from the greater Los Angeles area. Enjoy a delicious local sustainable lunch at Lulu in the open-air courtyard of the Hammer where you may also run into its legendary chefs, and food activists Alice Waters and David Tanis!
