We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra J. Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra J., what do you attribute your success to?
The most important factor behind the success of my art brand “Alejandra studio” is the ability to connect with my audience and community on a deep, emotional level through my work. Whether it’s through the themes I explore, the stories I tell, or the visual language I use, I strive to create art that resonates with people. This connection builds trust, loyalty, and genuine interest in my art, which is crucial for long-term success.

Another key factor is consistency in both quality and presence. Staying true to my vision while constantly improving my craft and maintaining an active presence through exhibitions, social media, and collaborations helps keep my brand relevant and visible. It’s about building a community around the art, not just showcasing individual pieces.

Lastly, adaptability and staying open to feedback and new ideas are vital. The art world evolves, and so must my approach, whether it’s exploring new mediums or engaging with different audiences. This flexibility allows my brand to grow and stay dynamic.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a first generation Latinx Artist, I am proud of my Mexican heritage. I grew up in southern California in a city called Pomona and I started my creative journey as a little girl sculpting with modeling clay and since then I never stopped. My art is an extension of my thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Each piece I create reflects a part of who I am, whether it’s a burst of emotion or a quiet reflection. I love exploring different mediums and techniques, always seeking new ways to express myself. My work is not just about the final piece; it’s about the process—the journey of discovery and creation. Through my art, I aim to connect with others, to make them feel something, to spark a thought, or simply to offer a new perspective. Every stroke, every color, every detail has meaning, and when people engage with my work, I hope they can see the world through my eyes, if only for a moment.

As an artist, I’ve faced numerous challenges, each one shaping and strengthening my creative journey. One of the first hurdles I had to overcome was self-doubt, questioning my abilities, wondering if my work was “good enough” to be seen or shared. It took time for me to embrace my unique voice and realize that my perspective is valuable, even when it doesn’t align with mainstream ideas or expectations.

Another challenge was balancing creativity with practical realities, like time and financial limitations. There were moments when I had to make tough choices, whether to invest in materials, or dedicate time to my art when life’s other demands were pulling me in different directions. It was a struggle to find that balance between pursuing my passion and managing the logistics of being an artist.

At times, I’ve also had to navigate criticism and rejection. It’s never easy when something you’ve poured your heart into doesn’t connect with others the way you hoped. But over time, I’ve learned to view criticism as an opportunity for growth rather than a setback. It pushed me to refine my work, to experiment more, and to never stop learning.

Lastly, staying motivated through periods of creative block has been a challenge. There were times when the ideas just wouldn’t flow, or I felt disconnected from my art. Overcoming that meant accepting that it’s okay to have those lulls, and that creativity often comes in waves. By pushing through and trusting the process, I’ve learned to keep going even when the inspiration isn’t immediate.Pushing through and growth is what my brand “Alejandra Studio” is all about.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have so many favorite spots in my hometown of Pomona. For some good food I would take you to my favorite Mexican Vegan spot, Borreguitas, that is woman owned and their food makes you feel like you are home. You have to try their “Moni Burrito” and other mouthwatering choices on their menu. Another fun spot to check out would be Lopez Farm that is on Garey and 10th, They are a non profit organization that provides delicious produce for our community and they also have many workshops for the community like bead making and writing poetry. Lopez Farm is a great place to take anyone who needs a break form the city and wants to connect with community. Another event Pomona is known for is its second Saturday of the month artwalk that is full of different booths, food, music and exciting things to see at every turn. Pomona has many wonderful places to see and it has helped shaped me to the resilient artist I am today.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My story and Journey would have not been able to be where it is right now if it wasn’t for my family and especially my sibilings they have always believed in me and my Artwork since the beginning. They have always pushed me to continue doing what I love doing which is Art. My partner Peter Lechuga who has also supported me and inspires me everyday to challenge and grow my potential, I could not ask for a better partner. I also want to thank my Community of Pomona that has been there for me and inspires my artwork everyday.
