We had the good fortune of connecting with Alejandra Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alejandra, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Creating my business I was at university. I wanted to have something on my own, something to create art and fashion. I was looking to create something that united my passions. I wanted something that represented everything about me, here comes Sencilla.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My brand is a hand painted clothing brand. More than fashion for me is art. Each clothing piece is different since is hand painted. The art I use is linear, abstract art, I paint faces or body parts.

I started in 2018, making personal orders, vía Instagram, in 2020 I open my website.

It has been a very nice challenge, the most I can highlight is a collaboration I did with Nike.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Puerto Rico is HOME for me.

I am from the east side of Puerto Rico, from Ceiba.

I describe my Island as happy, colorful, tropical and warm.

My perfect day here would be to go to my favorite cafe, that would be Curate or Café Regina, then I would stop to take a walk on luquillo beach, and finish an afternoon at Hacienda Muñoz in San Lorenzo.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mom. I grew up watching my mom paint and draw, she is an artist. So I was always inspired by her, it created curiosity for art in me.
