We had the good fortune of connecting with Alessandro Moroder and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi alessandro, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
There’s a saying in tattooing…Some times it be like that

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being a tattooer in 2024 and beyond is a bit of an odd profession when we (tattooers) step back and recognize what we do for a living. Some times you are in work mode and all you want to do is tattoo and tattoo and have a laugh and it can be hard sometimes to take a pause and realize the impact (good or bad) you are having in peoples lives.

Sure you play therapist and confidant and friend and ultimately tattooer, but I believe that tattooing now and in the future will just become a more precious and personal thing that will evolve based on your relationship with your clients. There are so many (too many) tattooers out there now and a good portion of them are just trying to make some money and take a cool photo but one thing that I’ve learned recently is that tattooing is an incredible special and vulnerable connection. You are sitting, sometimes with someone you’ve met 20 minutes before, both of you have to have total trust in each other. You spend hours literally holding them, and that physical connection is something, especially in todays wild world, that is sacred. People have hundreds of options as to whom they want to get blasted by and they choose you for some reason and each opportunity to share something special with a close friend or a total stranger is pretty, pretty cool.

At the end of the day, I just really enjoy tattooing and especially being in a tattoo shop with all my boys (and girls), frolicking through a meadow of daisies, listening to hardcore, snacking on little snacks and doing sick tatzzz.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
wake up,
make bed,
body black coffee,
hit gym,
don’t stretch,
hit back (everyday is back day),
blast your ears with some wild mid 90’s house music
pound eggs,
go home,
sleep,
repeat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I had a long and challenging apprenticeship. Most shops are anywhere between six months to a year and change, but because of the notoriety of our establishment, I apprenticed for nearly three years. Five to six days a week, twelve to sixteen hours a day. It was common for me at that time to miss out on a lot of things outside of the tattoo shop, birthdays, family gatherings, dinners. I went months rarely seeing people outside of my wife so when I did it was a rarity and something I did even necessarily enjoy because all I could think about was having to go back to work the following day.

That being said, a huge shoutout goes out to my wife, Martina, for sticking through it with me, especially in the earlier months where I had two full time jobs. She always had my back and supported me knowing all this mess was just temporary.
