We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Falzon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I get most of my energy from meeting people and since finishing university back in 2003, I have always worked in sales. During these years, I always looked for opportunities out there to help me grow and found very few training opportunities specifically addressed towards salespeople. So, in 2020 (best year ever to start a business in the last 50 years!! I decided to tap into the market of ‘sales and leadership training and coaching’. It’s been a very rewarding journey and I consider myself lucky to do what I really love to do, which is ultimately ‘helping others grow’.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I had been in sales jobs for almost 15 years and found it hard to get any training related to sales in Malta. So I focused on this gap in the market and started my own training programs for companies who employed sales people and sales managers. In the middle of this year my wife needed Cardiac surgery, which came with it’s array of complications and this turned out to be the toughest time of my life, where I found myself juggling my start-up company, my wife’s health, and 2 young children in the midst of COVID – which also brought along it’s own challenges. This period thought me a lot and helped me further understand that everyone has potential inside them. Potential we sometimes only tap into when we are in tough situations when there is no easy way out. So today I use this experience to help others become a better version of themselves through training and coaching. That is what my business is built on. It gives me great satisfaction to help others believe in themselves and grow.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love Valletta, the capital city of Malta. There are great restaurants and bars too, and beautiful boutique hotels, with views of the 3 cities.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I can say that I got inspired after watching Simon Sinek’s Tedtalk and subsequently read his book ‘Start with why’. Throughout the start of my training and coaching business I had a lot of support from my wife who always believed there was more to me, and encourages me to take that extra step further.
