Meet Alex Ferreira Simoes | Character Animation Mentor

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Ferreira Simoes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
As someone who’s been in the animation industry for many years, I’ve worked with a lot of people who have helped/taught me. I am grateful for the things I’ve learned from them, and I wanted to share my knowledge with others. Through my Animation Flow Patreon page, I’ve built a multi-step and modular system of lessons that offer affordable and high-quality animation education to anyone with an internet connection, regardless of their location or financial means.
Not only do I want to provide an opportunity for aspiring animators to learn and grow their skills, but I also aim to diversify the animation industry by providing access to education that may not be available in certain areas or communities.
I believe everyone should have access to quality education, regardless of their background or financial situation, and I can contribute to this goal by making the Animation Flow Patreon lessons accessible to all. By offering my expertise and knowledge, I hope to help others achieve their dreams and positively impact the animation industry as a whole.
I’m super excited to say that the current Patrons are from 15 different countries, including India, Ireland, the UK, Korea, Malaysia, the US, Spain, Canada, and many more. This global reach means that aspiring animators from all over the world have access to affordable and high-quality animation education.
I strongly believe that talent is universal, but opportunity is not, and that’s why I’m passionate about breaking down the barriers to quality education. By providing access to my knowledge and expertise, I hope to empower students in different countries and communities to pursue their dreams of becoming animators.
It’s truly inspiring to see the impact my Animation Flow Patreon page has had in different parts of the world, hearing the testimonials from students when they land their first job or when they improve their skills for a promotion or a dream company they’re looking for, and I’m committed to continuing to expand my reach to as many countries and communities as possible.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I specialize in character animation for games and feature films, and I’m proud to have worked on some notable projects. As an animator at Riot Games, I contributed to the popular game League of Legends. I also worked at DreamWorks Animation on films such as The Bad Guys, Boss Baby Family Business, and Abominable. Throughout my career, I’ve been involved in creating short films and TV ads as well. A big part of my career is the Animation Flow, where I have my mentorship program and a Patreon page where I can share more knowledge and help animators grow their skills and get better opportunities in the industry. I am particularly proud of the success of my Animation Flow students, who have gone on to achieve amazing opportunities after completing my mentorship program.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Why not kick off your day with a refreshing hike at Griffith Park? You’ll enjoy a stunning view of the LA skyline from the observatory. Afterwards, we can go to an unforgettable dinner at one of two exceptional restaurants. Avra Beverly Hills offers delicious Mediterranean cuisine, while Nobu Sushi Malibu serves up amazing sushi dishes in a breathtaking beachside setting.”
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take a moment to give a shoutout to everyone who has supported my Animation Flow Patreon page and shown interest in my content. Your support means the world to me and I am deeply grateful to be part of such an amazing and dedicated community. I would also like to extend a special thank you to my supervisors, leads, colleagues, and friends who have been instrumental in pushing me to be the best animator and educator I can be. Their support and inspiration continue to drive me to improve and deliver high-quality content at work as well to my students.
Last but not least, I want to express my appreciation to my family for always standing by my side and supporting me in all of my crazy adventures.
