Meet Alex Geringas | Songwriter & Composer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Geringas and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk taking is and was essential in my career path so far. When Kelly Clarkson recorded my song “Dark Side” in 2011 my wife and I packed our two toddlers, sold our house in Hamburg,Germany and moved to LA. We had no idea if we would stay longer than a couple of months or not.But this song made me a part of a Grammy-winning Album so we stayed and became US Citizens.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am always keen to try out new things.
I love being a songwriter and composer – that’s why I started to mentor younger writers and composers, help them growing their own careers.
Taking risks is for me the only way to really proceed to the next level in your life and in your career. That’s why I also started to co-develop shows and features which is pretty new ground for me
Or like my trainer would say “Get comfortable in the uncomfortable”
One of my proudest moments so far was when we helped getting one of my writers a new TV Show and he called me to tell me “Thank you for always believing in me”.Well, in these moments you know – it’s all worth it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Maybe a day could look like :
700 Hike at the Lake Hollywood Lake
845 Breakfest at Kitchen Mouse in Highland Park
1000 Coffee and Views at Soho Warehouse in the Arts District
1200 some shopping at the Row
130 driving around through downtown and koreatown
300 random stop somewhere at a Starbucks and off to Griffiths Park Observatory. Even more views
500 early dinner at Messhall with my gorgeous wife and Bookbusiness “kinder-books.com” owner Katharina
700 Ice Cream at Pazzo Gelato,Silverlake
900 drive home. Sleep. Repeat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be anywhere without my Manager and Businesspartner Jonathan Gordon. We quietly built our Music Production Company Rare Behavior and our co-owned publishing venture Run+Gun Music , proudly signed a great diverse and growing team of writers, composers and producers focusing mainly on Film and TV. Jonny is a born leader and we both enjoy seeing this community we started to build blossom every day more and more.
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to him til I can buy him the Garage of Ferrari’s he deserves.
