We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Mor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, do you have a favorite quote or affirmation?
“Amor Fati,” which means “love of one’s fate,” has been key for me in this industry because it doesn’t matter how much work you put into things; you cannot control final result. A lot of times you’re excited about a project and you put your soul into it, and something outside of your control happens, and the project falls apart or it is given to someone else. Learning to accept that is part of the journey was hard but a good lesson ultimately.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2020, I co-founded a production company called “Deft Dog” with an associate. Since then, we’ve been writing music for media and producing artists. It’s been a roller coaster ride, and finding stability with your own business is really challenging. Some days are tough, but when things are good, they’re really good, and you feel a sense of pride for building something from the ground up.

We’ve collaborated with various individuals and entities in cities like LA, Mexico City, Miami, Madrid, Monterrey, Bogotá, and many more. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our network gradually expand.

Through this journey, I’ve learned a lot about things I never knew I’d have to learn, from creating a website to video editing and crafting contracts.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’d probably grab food at Little Tokyo and then have beers at Angels Brewery or somewhere else in the Arts District. I would 100% go to Porto’s in the morning and recommend they try their “ropa vieja.” If my friend is up for it, I’ll probably take them on a hike to the Hollywood sign, but if they want a good challenge, I’d take them to Mt. Baldy or Baden Powell. I even took a friend once to San Jacinto, and that lasted the entire day. Hiking in SoCal is incredible!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to mention two entities: The first one is Animal Music Studios. They were my first internship back in 2017, and ever since, I’ve been working with them as a freelancer a lot. They exposed me to the world of music for media in a professional setting, and I’ve always been extremely grateful for that.

The second one is the band “El Feeling.” They’re a Colombian band from LA and play Latin Folklore Fusion. I have learned a lot through them about many things, especially about being an artist and the crazy amount of things you have to do.
