Meet Alex Vincent | Artist in the Film industry

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Vincent and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alex, any advice for those thinking about whether to keep going or to give up?
Every artist wrestles with this question, and the truth is – there’s no simple formula. For me, it comes down to this: if the work still excites me and continues to give me reasons to stay curious and creative, then I keep going, no matter how tough it gets. The sense of accomplishment and renewed creative energy you feel when battling through a tough project, or an artistic rut, is a feeling like no other. On the flip side of that, if I find myself feeling drained and uninspired, I have to step back and ask: if it’s the art itself, or just the circumstances surrounding it?
I don’t think of it as ‘giving up’—that sounds too final. I see it as a pivot point. If something isn’t working, I go back to the drawing board and ask why. Most of the time—nine times out of ten—I’ll find the answer. Maybe I need to shift my approach or perspective, learn something new, or simply give myself space to see things differently.
And for that one time when I can’t find the way forward? That just means I’ve given it everything I have. And there’s no failure in that – only the understanding that I honored the process, trusted myself, and can move forward with clarity, whether that means continuing down the same path or discovering a new one.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My sole purpose in creating art is to evoke emotions while telling a story. I’m a very sentimental person, so I love injecting nostalgia into my work—transporting the viewer back to a simpler time. A time when the hardest decision you had to make was whether to watch a movie, play with action figures, or go outside after school.
That sense of warmth, familiarity, and wonder is what fuels my creativity. I want my art to feel like a forgotten memory that you’ve just unlocked for the first time in forever – something that makes people smile, reflect, or even long for the past in the best way possible.
Being an artist is an unpredictable realm and sometimes it’s hard to standout from the crowd. But if I’ve learned anything at all, it’s that you have to trust yourself and create from the heart. Trends come and go, but authenticity is timeless. Create from inside you and trust your instincts. My art is a reflection of who I am – a storyteller, a dreamer, and someone who believes that the power of our memories connect us all.
At the end of the day, I just want to create artwork that makes me happy and makes people feel something. Simple as that. If my work can spark a memory, an emotion, or even just a moment of joy, then I know I’m doing what I was meant to do.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You’re in for a treat if you visit Chicago. The nightlife is outrageous here. It’s absolutely essential that you try some real Chicago pizza – I’m taking you to Lou Malnati’s – best deep dish around. After that, we’re gonna have to take a walk down the Lakefront that borders Lake Michigan – we’ll make sure to do it when it’s a little nicer out (a perfect 68 degrees) so you can run into plenty of pups on the way. I’m big into Jazz, so I love frequenting the classic jazz bars that Chicago has to offer, such as The Green Mill or Andy’s – but if we wanna go to a real hidden gem in the city, then we’re gonna venture down underneath The Hoxton in Fulton Market and grab a seat at Lazy Bird – great cocktails and live music, but get there early – it fills up fast.
