We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Dosamantes and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexis, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I’ve always known that I wanted to start something of my own, and that I wanted it to be in beauty because that is my passion! The confidence and the transformation that adding lashes to my makeup look gave me, was something that I wanted others to also experience through my brand. Applying lashes was always my favorite step in my makeup routine, but I noticed that there was a problem. We all love wearing a great pair of lashes on a night out, but when we’re ready to take them off they usually end up getting misplaced or damaged because there’s no where to store them. This is the reason that I decided to launch my brand with packaging that would help solve this issue by giving my customers a convenient on the go lash case that they can take anywhere they go! They also have a mirror inside so you can always make sure that your lashes are looking flawless! I hope to expand my lash cases in the future to have compartments for other lash tools, and continue to empower others to enhance their natural beauty with Wink’d Out.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Wink’d Out was started with the goal of enhancing your natural beauty and empowering you to feel confident! I wanted to provide a variety of lashes that fit a variety of needs such as length, style, eye shape, and material. I want our lashes to enhance your natural beauty, so we recently launched our “So Effortless” collection which featured three lightweight, natural styles that are the definition of your lashes but better. I wanted this collection to give my customers that go-to pair that you reach for everyday, and provide styles that are perfect for beginners or those who are wanting to try out falsies!

Starting a business comes with a lot of challenges and lessons that will be learned along the way! One of the biggest lessons that I have learned is to not compare my business journey to anyone else’s. It is so hard to not compare yourself to someone else, but we have to remember that we are all moving at different paces. Everyone’s business grows at a different pace, and that is something that I have to constantly remind myself at my low points. Your journey is what makes you unique, and the process of growing is what makes the end goal so much more worth it.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would not be where I’m at today without the help of all the special people in my life! I am so thankful to have an amazing family and group of friends who are constantly there to support and encourage me.
