Meet Alexis Hunter | Writer/jewelry designer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexis Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alexis, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I’ve always loved beauty and everything artistic. I started as a painter many years ago and was successful with my art. This evolved into writing prose and eventually a book which was published in 2015 and revised in 2022. It’s my passion. I have to be creative to express we’ll I am.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I design and create wearable art. I started as a painter many years ago. I’ve shown my paintings in Beverly hills, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Palm Springs and Athens, Greece My work evolved into a smaller canvas which is composed of using different materials such as chain, pearls, gemstones, wire, leather and cork.
I love creating one of a kind statement pieces. I love creating necklaces with a theme. I’ve made Christmas, Halloween. Day of the Dead, Mardi Gras. New York, Paris and other fantasy whimsical pieces.
I’m very fortunate in having made pieces for celebrities such a Steven and Liv Tyler, Paula Abdul, Gail O’Grady, Joanna Cassidy, Joanna Petit, Marilyn Michaels, Mamie Van Doreen and Kaye Ballard.
So thrilled to have my work featured in three different magazines.
Being successful takes time and work. I started off making very simple beaded bracelets and necklaces. Over the years, my work as evolved into more ccomplicated designs.
Perseverance and love for the process of creating something I love is what has kept me going. It’s my passion.
My brand is Alex Hunter Palm Springs.

My jewelry can be seen it Nicole’s on El Paseo in Palm Desert, California
I’d also like to mention my book ‘Joi Lansing…a Body to Die for. A Love Story’
It’s available through Amazon, Barnes & Noble and local book stores. The book is being made into a limited series for
television.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
P.Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley are filled with a lot of great things to do. I’d take my friend to the Palm Springs Tram to check out the view from the highest point in the valley.
Here are places we’d go:
The Living Desert in Palm Desert
Drive up to Idyllwild in the mountains
Catch concerts at The McCallum Theater
Go to the new AcriSure Arena to see a hockey game or a great concert with big name performers.
Shop on El Paseo in Palm Desert. High end shops and boutiques.
Street Fair on Thursday evenings on Palm Canyon in Palm Springs
Saturday and Sunday morning and afternoon at the art fair in Palm Desert at the College of the Desert
Go to V’s Wine and Martini Bar in Palm Springs on Friday evening to see Siobhan Velarde perform
See Charles Herrera, Michael Holmes and Darci Daniels at The Purple Room in Palm Springs on Wednesday evening
Dine:
Stuft Pizza at the mall in Palm Desert
City Wok at the mall
The Steak House at Aqua Caliente Casino in Rancho Mirage or Palm Springs. Both are great
Tony’s Burgers in Cathedral City. Best and most reasonable in the area
Elmer’s Restaurant in Palm Springs. Great breakfast and Prime Rib in the evening
Si Bon Restaurant in Palm Desert. Great food and dreamy desserts.
The weather here is usually sunny and warm. It’s the desert. Swim and lounge by the pool.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Leslie Todd encouraged my to write my book. Joi Lansing was the reason for writing the book…it’s a love story/cautionary tale about the dangers of Hollywood in the 50s. 60s and even later.
