We had the good fortune of connecting with Alexz Roze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alexz, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
The thought process behind starting my photography business was simply “I want more out of life”. It may sound cliché, but I’ve always been someone who believed that life should be epic. From spontaneous trips to meeting famous people at exclusive events I wanted it all and I can tell you, the sales job I had at the time wasn’t going to get me there. Once the Covid pandemic hit in 2020 I know I had an opportunity at the life I only dreamed about. Starting my own business was definitely scary though. Losing the security of a consistent paycheck every week was a hard pill to swallow. However knowing what I know now I would never go back.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
As a photographer I would describe my work as Moody yet Vibrant. I love to play with the shadows of an image and sometime I even incorporate some RGB lights to really give my images that wow factor. What makes me different is how comfortable I make people feel in front of the camera. Being featured in my first publication this past year is definitely something I’m proud about. I was even contracted to shoot the cover of the same publication in the near future and I can’t more excited. As far as getting to where I am professionally, I did a lot of networking and learning on the fly. Through networking, one of my very first gigs was to shoot e-commerce photos for Puma. Even though the opportunity was amazing, at the time I had never shot in a studio or used any off camera flash. Luckily with the help of my bestfriend who I brought along as my assistant and some Youtube videos the photos actually turned out amazing. From there things just kept rolling. Shortly after that I found myself doing photography full-time for a company called Stoned Pizza as their content photographer, so any blogs or other media outlets that needed images I was responsible for it. Through the connects I made at Stoned Pizza, my next major opportunity was taking photos of Foreign diplomats at the United Nations. After that, I’ve been able to shoot some major celebrities as well as some big influencers. Before being published early last year, I held a 3day gallery in the lower Eastside in NY to feature some of my more creative work. The connections and notoriety from the gallery really opened even more doors. The process was definitely not easy though. Each opportunity really required me to unlock a new skill set to complete the task at hand. Being new an inexperienced at the time made each new project equally rewarding as it was stressful. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned was fear will either crush your dreams or be the push you need to become a better version of yourself. What I want the world to know is that working with me always will be a Fun and Epic experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m truly a big kid at heart so I’ll make sure the activities are exciting and the food is great. If you’re from out of town than yes Manhattan is where its at. As a New Yorker though I know the other boroughs also have no much to offer. First on the list would be a trip to Long Island for some Go karting at RPM. For great night life an amazing drinks we would head to Brooklyn over by the Barclay Center. Now Queens in my opinion has some of the best food like all you can eat Korean BBQ for super cheap. Lastly, We can’t forget about the Big Landmarks and famous attractions. So, we head back to Manhattan for some sporting events at Madison Square Garden. Then head downtown to Soho for some shopping. Then we head back uptown for more food at the Edge which overlooks the whole city.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve been blessed to have an incredible support system through this journey. First, I would Shoutout My Lord and Savior because without him none of this would be possible. Next, my Parents because without them I wouldn’t have had the strength or means to keep going through the rough patches I’ve experienced navigating the entrepreneur life. After that, my inner circle which is my cousin, my bros and my girlfriend. This Journey has truly been a rollercoaster so far and these are the people who at a moments notice have dropped everything to help me get to the next level. Lastly, would be my mentor.
