We had the good fortune of connecting with Alfredo Lopez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alfredo, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

I choose an artistic field because ever since I was 12 I had always had a deep and unique way of envisioning things.

I realized I had these traits when I got my first skateboard. I remember learning tricks and picturing different ways to implement them in cool ways to showcase in promo videos for sponsorships. I remember picturing the angles i’d use and the way I’d incorporate everything. It was really imaginative but I just never reached that level in skateboarding once I joined the Navy to ever project my visions.

When I found out how to express my artistic and creative talents I followed it passionately and still continue to do so today. I love making art, I love creating, and I love making people happy through my vision.

I’m very happy for the people and connections I’ve made through my networking, and how far my work has come in such a short time. Not to add being my own boss is a pretty cool perk. (I still get frustrated with my self sometimes lol)

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

I got where I’m at because I am relentless. I always deliver more than what’s expected of me. Not because I have to but because I never set a cap on the expectations I expect of myself. Money does not dictate my performance. My values are in my work and that is something that can’t be bought. Getting outstanding content in record time is literally a sheer force of will on its own. This isn’t an easy task but a task none the less. You have to be willing to execute, and You have to be willing to make that decision to be the best every day, At every event and for every opportunity.

My brand Skateheadz Photography is a self made company. I could have given up on this journey but there is absolutely nothing in anything if you give up. When you have a dream you don’t give up. There is no striking out. Every day is bases loaded. Having this mentality is why I believe my resilience is unsurpassed and why my branding speaks for its self. I’ve never asked for a hand out or watermarked my work or used business cards. Every tag, mention, Repost and job reference I’ve gotten has been due to the connection I’ve built with my clients & individuals, Followed by a strong standing of mutual respect and a solid reputation to back it up with.

I’ve built and developed a brand that is recognized by all and all of it is tied into my legacy. I am extremely proud of what I’ve built.

To be honest this isn’t just art or photos to me. This is my livelihood…This is me. This is and once was life and death. Photography saved my life and I’m forever thankful for it. My gratitude to have this as a means to channel my energy and showcase my inner emotions and create art is a blessing.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Welp. No suprise that it will most definitely be the best time ever. I would take them to some of my favorite food places. Like the Kettner Exchange, King and Queen Cantina, Camino Riviera, Ska Bar, Flap Your Jacks, Puesto, and Pomegranate.

Places we’d have go to during night activities would be Parq, Nova or Oxford. There is no comparison to these major nightclubs. I definitely think day activities would just vary on mood but I have so many locations and places I love we’d be set for any type of mood.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
