Meet Ali Kates | Trauma Recovery Coach & Somatic Experience Practitioner (In-Training)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ali Kates and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ali, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Hi thank you so much for having me. During my personal healing journey, particularly through the challenges of grief and loss, I felt a deep desire to create a space where individuals could navigate their own paths of mental health and trauma recovery in a secure and supportive environment. During the initial stages of conceptualizing my business, a consistent thought echoed in my mind: people need a place to come and process what they have been through.
This vision emerged from the realization that people required a space where they could not only seek support but also be genuinely seen, heard, and validated. Before the pandemic mental health wasn’t at the forefront of most-people’s minds. Nevertheless, as I developed my business, the unwavering commitment to prioritize mental health became my true north.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Such a good question. Right now I’ve been pretty wrapped up in the whole business growth adventure. It’s wild how exciting it is, but you know what they say – with growth comes these things they call growing pains. It’s not something people chat about all that often, but it is a ride!
So I would say growth and also my somatic experience training that I am going through right now. It is a 3 year long program and it has been incredible to learn new tools to support my current and future clients.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
ooo yes this a good one, well I have no shame in saying that I am a basic gal so I would say my ideal itinerary would be to hangout in Venice. We would start the day at Alfred Coffee and then go to the beach, then head over to Erewhon for some good food.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you for having me, I LOVE this question. YES. the first person that I would shoutout is my husband for believing in my vision when it became hard to see it at times. Then close second would be my close friends who continue to encourage me as my business grows, and lastly I would say my community. <3
