Meet Alisa Reyes: Actor, Singer, Producer, Writer & Acting Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisa Reyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alisa, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
My number one goal in life is to always stay grounded and to always be my most authentic self. Being in that frequency is what allowed me to align within where I am currently with my 30 year acting career. Starting acting as a child and now thanks be to God I am still going strong into my adulthood my most important factor behind my success was the support of my mother whom is now my guardian angel in heaven and having a strong team and tribe of family, friends and business associates helping me along my journey. I always made sure to stay as active as possible within my marketing and branding and my connection with my fan base since day one. I always have had a strong moral compass to where I have always been the captain of my own ship and made sure that I stayed in alignment within my work ethic, my manifestation and my over goals and vision for not only in front of the camera but also behind it. The success of my brand falls into the law of attraction. Meaning I am a big believer on what you put out in life comes back to you ten fold and by being a public figure especially since I have always had a young fan base and now one of all ages I always made sure that I was the best version of myself at all times so that I could be a positive role model for the world to see. At the end of the day my roots, my heritage, my passion for the arts has always been the driving force into my vibration within my career and never forgetting where I came from and where I started is the constant reminder that pushes me ahead at all times.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I started acting at the age of 7 years old. I am going 30 years strong within my career thanks be to God. I have been a proud member of Sag/Aftra since 1990. I am originally from Manhattan, NY but now I reside in the West Coast. I am Irish, Italian and Dominican. I like to call myself the United Nations. I knew from a young age that I wanted to be an actor. Thankfully with the support of my mother whom is now my guardian angel in heaven ad whom helped me to pursue my dreams at a young age and told me that I could do anything as long as I put my mind to it. I knew that I had to pursue a career in acting. I was the one that told my family that I wanted to pursue an acting career. I was the type of child that was very passionate and animated and always ready to perform. So one day my mother and I sent some pictures of me that were 4×6’s in black and white to a few agencies in New York. By the grace of God I was contacted by an agency called Tracy’s Kids who had me come in for an in person audition. I then cold read a few scripts for the company and was told right there at my meeting that they wanted to sign me. That then was the beginning of my professional acting career. I started off working on commercials, modeling jobs, industrial videos, hosting jobs, tv and film work, etc. I started to pay my dues at a young age which helped shaped me into the actor I am today. My first big job booking was a commercial which allowed me to then be a union actor. It was a national Honey Nut Cheerios commercial. I was very blessed to have booked a national spot at such a young age. Later in my career I felt ready to expand my team and finally get my first acting manager by the name of Marilyn Zitner whom really helped expand my acting career just like Tracy’s Kids did. I later ended up signing with the children’s division of Wilhelmina which is a top modeling agency in New York. I was with their kid department called Wee Willy’s. At the age of 12 years old I booked a series regular role on the sketch comedy show called ALL THAT on Nickelodeon with my manager at the time and that then started the kick off to where I am now within my acting career. After being on ALL THAT for three seasons and being apart of the original cast I had the opportunity to travel from New York to Orlando, Fl then to sunny California. After ALL THAT I moved onto a show called ONE WORLD which aired on TNBC where I played the series regular role of Marci Blake. This was a Peter Engel show he created Saved by the Bell. I also won a Hollywood Reporter Youngstar Award for Best Actress for my role on ONE WORLD. I was bi coastal for a while and ended up retaining new talent agents and managers throughout my career but I will never forget my first agent and manager that took the chance on me and showed me what true belief was. I will forever be in deep gratitude for their love and light. Which I send back to them all ten fold. I have guest starred on shows such as ER, NYPD BLUE,
SIX FEET UNDER, WITHOUT A TRACE. I was recurring on BOSTON PUBLIC and the soap BOLD AND THE BEAUTIFUL. I was a series regular on the soap PASSIONS. I am a series regular on the Disney and now Disney Plus’s cartoon called THE PROUD FAMILY: LOUDER & PROUDER where I play the role of
La Cienega, new episodes will be out soon.
I am currently in a film that’s out right now called BREAK EVEN where I play the role of Rosie. I even have a doc out called THE ORANGE YEARS that I am in and producing and I have a few songs out on most digital platforms. You can catch me on new episodes of the new ALL THAT as I help pass down the torch to the new cast. Talk about a full circle moment. When I am not working on set I coach acting to all ages where I share my love of the arts as I try and give back to new actors and working ones. All of this is just a touch of what I have done and what I am currently working on. As you can see no matter how I am involved whether it’s in front of the lens or begin I always try and give back to the universe and my peers any way I can. I am even a proud board member of the California Dance Institute which is an inner city dance company that allows children to learn dancing within their public school system. In regards to my training and background I have trained at schools in New York such as HB Studios and taking private acting classes with an amazing coach by the name of Karen Anthony. Along with studying dance at the Joffery Ballet, Ballet Hispanico, The National Dance Institute just to name a few places I studied at and taking private singing lessons with Robert Marks. When I moved to California in my late teens I studied at schools such as The Play House West to where Jeff Goldblum was my teacher, I studied with Lesly Kahn who I like to call my Acting Fairy Godmother, and many more amazing teachers. At the end of the day I am a big believer that hard work, dedication and manifestation is key to be a successful person in life. Staying grounded is my number one must and remembering those that have guided me along the way. I am a diverse woman that has dealt with many up’s and down’s and nothing was handed to me without working hard for it. I am fully aware that one can not accept things to be handed to them without putting in the time and sacred energy that the universe must see and feel so that, that frequency can come back to you. I am a big believer in karma and how helping others and staying true and loyal to your morals and principles will help one achieve success throughout their journey in life.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I have been very blessed of have traveled to some beautiful and amazing places. I am from Manhattan, Ny and now reside in the west coast. I have lived in Florida and have visited Canada, Puerto Rico and traveled to many different states within the US. One of my most favorite places that I have been to is Key West and Puerto Rico. Any place that has an island feel makes my soul complete. Any place that makes you feel that you can turn your cell phone off and not look at a clock or watch is a must to visit.
Let alone live in. I love the beach and I love to hike. I am an out door type of person. I always like to find a local hiking trail or a private sacred spot that doesn’t have alot of people around. I love taking a day trip to places where I live locally and travel the unknown. Though I have alot of love for my hometown New York which I call a melting pot of love, yummy food and culture galore. AND every now and then I love to go to Las Vegas. Now residing in the west coast I am spoiled with amazing weather and scenic views and landscapes but one thing on my bucket list which is a must is visiting Europe! I am ready to Eat, Love and Pray!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to take a sacred moment to thank GOD for giving me the strength to be the person I am today and a HUGE Thank You to my mother in heaven whom was my driving force into this divine moment I am in currently within my life. A big SHOUT OUT to all of my fans that have been a huge part of my journey since day one. You all are the backbone and I am in deep gratitude for all of your love and light. I send it right back. A big thank you to all of my teachers and mentors and acting students I have had along the way that helped guide me into the artist I am now and that has shined such light into my life which has allowed me to shine my light right back into the universe and help spread my love for the arts to everyone I encounter. And lastly, a HUGE thank you to my husband Nathan Thorpe for being my rock, my soul mate and my bestfriend. I am in deep gratitude for your love and for the love that so many has bestowed upon me. I love you all and I cant thank you all enough.
