We had the good fortune of connecting with Alisha Cory and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alisha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?

I had so many ideas spinning around in my head for years, but it all started to come together over the last couple years of intense spiritual awakenings. I realized that my purpose was rooted in both the things that come most naturally to me, as well as the traumas and challenges that I have learned to alchemize on my journey. This landed me in the beautiful space of being an awakening guide and energy healer, incorporating my aesthetic and art into different expressions of the business.

The awakening guide and energy healing path was borne out of my own healing journey. I had worked with more than a handful of healers over the years, but felt like the sessions I had were isolated, leaving me flailing a bit in-between sessions. I didn’t have the support system that I needed to integrate the work that I was doing. There wasn’t that steadfast guide to help me look at all of the things I was experiencing from a holistic high-level view, and to shepherd and support me on my path. I realized that the reason that I had to stumble through my awakenings was so that I could serve that role for others.

On the art side of things, I’ve always had a talent for painting and design. I just needed to get those painting and product ideas out of my head and into form and in a public space. The first big project that I’ll be launching is a line of mostly up-cycled leather jackets customized with patches that I’ve sourced from all over the world. This project combines three things that are passions of mine – sustainability, statement fashion, and spreading healing and protective energy. Each patch holds different symbolism and energy, and every jacket will come with a reiki charged crystal, along with a card explaining the meaning behind each element. Anyone who knows me knows that I live in a leather jacket, so I’m excited to share my love of fashion in this creative format. My intention is for these to be statement pieces that are well worn and passed down for generations.

What should our readers know about your business?

Coming from the corporate world, everything is always so linear. So building a business that is so multifaceted required me to rewire my brain to be OK with offering a wide range of services and products. My biggest challenge was figuring out where to start. Accepting that it was OK for me to spend one day working on one aspect of my business, and then another day on something completely different was my big breakthrough point. I’ve learned to follow my intuition each day with what I should be concentrating on. So I would say that taking steps to clarify that intuitive guidance is the first step to building something successful. I am doing what so many entrepreneurs have done, juggling a full time job while I build up my own business. And I find that because this venture is rooted in my purpose I have so much energy to put towards it.

The world is shifting in incredible ways at a speed that is hard to grasp. I am excited to be here, among many others, to help raise the collective conscious at this time. My business is about helping people remember who they really are – an integral part of nature on our living Mother Earth, and a spiritual being having a human experience. My job is to help guide people in finding the tools to break away from the societal conditioning that has kept us trapped in cycles, habits, and lifestyles that do not serve us or the greater good. The goal is to work through the physical, mental and spiritual blocks that are in the way of us living fully in our purpose, and to clearly hear the divine guidance that we all receive. I have answered my call as a healer to bring forth ancestral knowledge and healing through multiple modalities including reiki and sound, crystals, divination tools, and psychic channeling. My approach to helping each person is completely custom, and is a co-creative process of self-reclamation.

Remembering who I am has not been an easy task. I still have so much more work to do, as finding a balance between modern society and our natural state is something that takes time. But I have done enough work to be able to help guide others, as we all work towards a better way of life. I have had to dig into the deepest depths of my soul and face trauma and demons that have been lurking into the shadows, some for generations. I’ve endured difficult experiences in this life, which I now know were there to prepare me to help others that have faced similar challenges. From childhood sexual abuse, rape, depression and suicidal thoughts, struggles with alcohol, sexual identity, and miscarriage. I feel that I came into this world with the intention of understanding some of the deepest pains of the human and female experience, so that I could learn to alchemize those experiences and help other people in their healing journeys.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
One of my favorite things to do in LA is to go see live music. If I had a friend visiting I would take them to The Hollywood Bowl or The Greek Theater. Being born and raised on Southern California I am definitely a beach person, so I would definitely have to spend a day in Malibu. Maybe start with a hike in Sycamore Canyon and then end the afternoon with a picnic on the beach in Sycamore Cove. Dreamland at Aviator Nation is always a fun stop off for some retro vibes, and their taco Tuesday is awesome. I love that they have mushroom tacos, and also offer alcohol free spirits for a virgin margarita. I also have a soft spot for Venice. I love wandering around and looking at all the murals. Rose Avenue has some great restaurants, and I always enjoy visiting Anima Mundi to stock up on any herbs and relax with a healthy drink in their beautiful healing garden. Then I’d stop off at IntoMeSea in Santa Monica to soak and melt into one of their giant crystal tubs. My favorite restaurant in that area is The Butcher’s Daughter, a must stop spot for vegetarian grub. Next I would hit up one of the amazing museums in the city – depending on what’s showing I’d go to The Broad, MOMA or LACMA. Grand Central Market is always a fun spot to grab some good eats, and it’s just a short walk from the iconic Angel’s Flight Railway. Last but not least, for shopping I would hit up Melrose and the Los Feliz Flea for some vintage duds. Capping it off with another delicious vegan meal at Love Organic Cafe in WeHo.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank every person that has helped shape who I am today – whether you have supported me on my journey or have been a vessel for a lesson. Thank you to my loving husband Kevin, who has been my rock through some of the toughest trials in my life, and who has supported me in my spiritual and personal evolution. And a huge shoutout to my parents – who have provided me with the priceless gifts that have helped shape my purpose and business – a deep level of empathy and intuition, and a love of music and art. Also, thank you to Elise Loehnen, whose podcast Pulling the Thread and book On Our Best Behavior: The Seven Deadly Sins And The Price Women Pay To Be Good have been integral road maps in my journey of self-discovery, expansion, and the dark night of my soul – which allowed me to birth a new version of myself. I also need to acknowledge Rick Rubin and his book The Creative Act: A Way of Being, which was a catalyst for me to take action in sharing my purpose and creative expressions. Last but not least I want to express an immense amount of gratitude to my ancestors, spirit guides, and star children, who provide me with profound messages, support and guidance.
