Meet Alison Deyette | TV Host & Media Trainer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alison Deyette and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alison, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The short answer? Preparation, personality, and a well-placed pause.
But here’s the longer (and slightly better lit) version: The success of Alison Deyette Media comes down to a mix of instinct, empathy, and an unapologetic belief that everyone has a story worth sharing—most people just need help telling it well. I don’t believe in “media training robots.” I believe in helping people sound like the best, boldest, clearest version of themselves—whether they’re on a red carpet, in an investor pitch, or on a stage with a mic that keeps cutting out.
I bring decades of experience across media—magazines, TV, fashion, branding, and enough live hits to know that something will go sideways at some point. What I do is help clients stay cool, compelling, and completely unshakeable when it does.
Success for me isn’t about building a brand that shouts. It’s about creating one that resonates—and teaching my clients to do the same, in their own voice. And honestly? I care. That’s probably the not-so-secret ingredient behind all of it. I care about how people show up, how they’re perceived, and how their message lands when the spotlight hits.

What should our readers know about your business?
Alison Deyette Media is built on preparation, presence, and the power of a pause—but also knowing when to ditch the script and speak like a human. I’m a media trainer, on-camera coach, and brand strategist, but what I really do is help people sound smart, clear, and unforgettable when it matters most. Whether it’s a CEO headed into a high-stakes keynote, an athlete sitting down for their first major interview, or a rising star about to walk a red carpet, I help shape the message—and the delivery—so it lands with confidence, clarity, and a little charisma.
What sets me apart? I’ve been on both sides of the camera and the conference call. I started in magazines—writing, editing, interviewing—and eventually transitioned into fashion and beauty direction, which led me to travel the world producing photo shoots, directing talent, and crafting stories with visual and verbal impact. Then came the TV years: morning shows, hosting makeover shows, talk shows, and red carpets, all of which gave me the one skill no media coach can fake—firsthand experience. And I’m still on-camera for national and local shows every month.
It wasn’t always easy. Moving from NYC to LA required a full career remix. I had the connections, but I had to rebuild the playbook. I stayed open to the zigzags—hosting, producing, consulting, training—and built a business grounded in trust, results, and a deep understanding of how communication works in real time. That means knowing what to say when the lights go on… or when the teleprompter goes down.
I’m most proud of the transformations I get to witness. I’ve seen clients walk into a session unsure of how to talk about themselves—and walk out knowing exactly how to own their story, their message, and their space. I don’t try to turn people into polished, press-trained robots. I help them sound like themselves—with more purpose, more polish, and fewer “um” or” like” in their conversation.
The biggest lesson I’ve learned? People need permission to stop hiding what makes them special.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend’s flying in for a week, we’re doing my L.A. Here’s how we roll:
Day 1: Ease In, Elevate Out
Start with art and altitude at The Getty—because nothing says “welcome to Los Angeles” like panoramic views and pretending you understand modern sculpture.
Day 2: Bikes & Blue Plate
We’ll rent bikes and ride the beach path from Venice to Santa Monica. Post-ride, it’s lunch at Blue Plate Oysterette—where the lobster roll is worth every buttery calorie.
Day 3: Aprons & Aperitifs
We’ll book a cooking class at Violet Bistro, led by my bestie Jesse Brune, who is not only a ridiculously talented chef but also makes the kitchen feel like the set of a reality show where nobody gets voted off. Expect laughter, wine, and starting off with a warm, crusty baguette slathered with salted butter that would easily suffice as a delicious dinner.
Day 4: Tea, Bingo & Disco Balls
It’s a glam day: afternoon tea at The Peninsula (yes, we’re dressing up), followed by an evening of Disco Bingo at Or Bar, where you might win a prize or lose your dignity—but either way, it’s guaranteed fun.
Day 5: Culture & Cheap Seats (That Don’t Feel Cheap)
Pack a picnic and head to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl—there’s something deeply magical about hearing live music under the stars with wine in a plastic cup and strangers dancing badly in front of you.
Day 6: Canyon Climbs & Grocery Snark
We’ll earn our carbs with a morning hike in Fryman or Runyon Canyon. Then it’s a casual strut through Erewhon, where we’ll laugh at the overpriced items like a $55 jar of creamed spinach, but then buy a $14 green juice “just to try it.”
Day 7: Pasta, Punchlines & a Touch of Tassel
We’ll start rooftop at Cosette with wine and vibes, then head downstairs for handmade pasta at Uovo in the Sportsman Lodge of shops, then we’ll cap off the night with comedy at The Improv.
Honorable mentions we’ll squeeze in somewhere:
• A Tipsy Cow smashburger in Sherman Oaks—messy and delicious.
• Thin-crust perfection at Pizzana—because pizza is a love language.
• Sit at the sushi bar at Umiai in North Hollywood and catch a movie in the reclining seats for a little relaxation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The truth? No one does it alone. And if they say they did, they’re either lying or forgot to mention their group chat.
My biggest shoutout goes to my husband, Daysun Perkins—who has been my unwavering support system, hype man, adventure buddy, and the person I want to sit next to at dinner, even after all these years. He’s kind, sharp, handsome, wildly talented, and makes me laugh every day. Every big risk I’ve taken in my career? He’s the one gently (but firmly) nudging me forward.
Next up: Jesse Brune, my bestie, chosen family, and bringer of comedic timing and perfectly cooked meals. He’s a chef, which makes him extra popular during holidays, game nights, and, let’s be honest, pretty much any gathering where people like to eat. My husband and I are lucky enough to be godparents to his and his husband’s two adorable boys, which brings constant joy—and a fair amount of mischief.
And finally, a giant shoutout to my incredible circle of girlfriends. They’re fierce, funny, uber talented, and we’ve built a support system so strong, it deserves its own group name. We cheer each other on, show up for the big stuff, and remind each other to rest, hydrate, and occasionally text back.
They say it takes a village—I just happen to have one filled with love, talent, and a well-developed sense of humor.
