We had the good fortune of connecting with Aliya Agoot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aliya, what principle do you value most?
In the beauty industry there’s a lot of pressure to follow trends or look a certain way. I make it a priority to get to know my client on a deeper level to find the perfect approach to ensure their service is impactful. As the artist I understand how social media/society can affect self confidence. Everyone is beautiful and I make sure my clients leave my chair feeling themselves.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There’s so many people in the beauty world it’s really hard to stand out. Instead of following the rules of instagram makeup, I try to make mine more fresh. Being original is almost impossible but you can tell when someone does something differently.

Honestly i’m nowhere near where I want to be in the industry. Making those connections you need isn’t easy but i’ve met my most special ones in the most random ways. I’ve learned I need to put myself out there way more than ever. I’m very shy but i’m passionate and nothing can stop that. Point is, always sell your business and tell everyone because it could change everything!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I live by the beach so there’s always something to do even when you think there’s not. Going to the art district in LA is always an adventure and there’s so many different cultures to choose from food wise! If you’re anywhere in California there’s always concerts going on and some for really cheap.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My Auntie Amber, and my mother Monika basically paved the way for me. Growing up they were always open about wearing makeup and how many different ways there are to have fun with it, not just “making you pretty”. I’d say they’re the reason I lean towards Avant-garde and editorial makeup.
