We had the good fortune of connecting with Allyn Beth Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allyn Beth, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
Art is Passion is not your typical Art Gallery. It’s a place where the community comes together to have fun, let their creative juices flow, and learn from each other. I host a wide range of events like Paint & Sip, Craft Night, Open Mic, Bingo and more. Some people are new to the area and looking to make friends, others are dealing with hardships and need some fresh inspiration. It’s amazing what a community is capable of when you give them an outlet to be creative.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m a Ventura-based artist focused on art that motivates others and brings light to positive change. My goal as an artist is to raise awareness on issues such as Gender Equality, Women Empowerment, Black Lives Matter, and Self Love. I strongly believe that art makes the world a better place and has the power to change lives.

At the age of eleven, I saw a Coca-Cola commercial featuring an animated polar bear and I was blown away. From that day on, anytime I was asked “What do you want to be when you grow up?”, I would quickly reply, “A graphic artist!” At the time, I had no idea what that entailed. I knew that I loved art and that if I could become a working artist, I was all for it. I ultimately graduated from the Art Institute of California-San Francisco with a Bachelor of Science in Multimedia and Web Design.

After college, I dove into a career as a professional web developer/designer and enjoyed a good sixteen year run. Throughout this time, I considered painting a hobby and never imagined I could earn enough as a full-time artist to cover my expenses. The events of 2020 proved to be a true eyeopener for me. I realized life is short and that there was no better time than the present. With some trepidation, I quit my high-paying tech job and joined the army of fearless artists. I’m proud to say that making the plunge to become a full-time artist was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made! I was surprised to learn how many opportunities would come my way once I decided to face the challenge.

As an artist and art gallery owner, I love what I do and learn something new every day. I’m constantly pushing my own boundaries with different creative outlets and doing my best to help other artists have a voice.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
“You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life” Book by Jen Sincero

This book was definitely an eye-opener for me. Especially when Covid-19 hit and everyone’s life was hanging in the balance. It was difficult to overcome self-doubt and plunge into the world of self-employment but it really felt like now or never. I highly recommend this book to everyone that wants to unlock their full potential and live their best life.
