We had the good fortune of connecting with Aly Collins and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aly, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I pride myself on never over promising and under delivering. I set very high standards for both my team and myself and won’t settle for anything less. I know that my brides have dreamt about their wedding day since they were little girls and my job is to help fulfill those dreams.

What should our readers know about your business?
My love for makeup started as a little girl when I would go into my grandmas large makeup vanity and play with all of her new products. That love turned into a business at 14 when my classmates paid me to do their makeup for all of our high school dances. While in high school I managed a beauty supply where I began working with a lot of high end brands which led to my next position as a counter manager for Urban Decay. This is when I found my passion for weddings & photoshoots & began working with brides all over the country. I decided to continue my education & was certified in makeup for theater/film/television before transferring to USC to study film/television. While at USC I took additional courses in beauty/tv/film but decided to switch my major to Communication/PR/Marketing. Upon graduation from USC I took a position at Victoria Secret Beauty where I helped develop new beauty products, and managed stores across Orange County. During the weekends I continued doing weddings and eventually ended up working in salon sales. While working in salon sales I kept fainting in my appointments and discovered that I had thyroid cancer. I had a baby and toddler at home and it was a rough few years during my cancer treatments. But in 2019 I finally felt like myself again and decided I was going to tackle life with a vengeance. I was tired of working for other people and gathered up the courage to start Aly Rose Makeup & Hair (also know as Aly Rose Beauty). It has been an amazing journey (minus getting shut down during Covid) and eventually I would love to work with A list celebrities and have my own line called ALY ROSE (which has been a dream since I was a little girl).

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am always up for new adventures, so assuming there weren’t budget restraints I would take my friend all over California. Maybe start in San Diego (staying in a 5 star hotel) and see the beaches, and gas lamp area, then head to Temecula, stay in a big Airbnb and do some wine tasting (I’m a big wino). After that head to Laguna, stay at the montage & walk around the city, followed by a night in Long Beach near the Belmont shore area. Then we would head to Catalina for the day and enjoy descanso beach and the cute local bars. From there we would head to LA and stay some where near sunset where we could enjoy the nightlife and go shopping on rodeo and Melrose. Once leaving LA we would head down the coast and enjoy Santa Barbara, Monterey, Carmel and eventually end up in San Francisco and stay near fishermen’s wharf. With that schedule we will probably need a two week vacation!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I am grateful for so many incredible people in my life who have both supported and encouraged me throughout my entrepreneurship. Cayla craft and her mommy millionaire society have kept me motivated when things got tough, Rachel Svboda the CEO of Sunday Brunch Agency helped me build a fabulous website and marketing strategy and my amazing husband & dad have held down the fort with my boys so mom can live her dreams.
