We had the good fortune of connecting with Aly Ward Azevedo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aly, why did you pursue a creative career?
I pursued a more creative career because I always felt like with a sit down job I would never be fully happy. Being an artist and creative you get to explore so many things and expand thoughts and feeling. I love the idea of being able to help someone and make someone feel something. I saw how much tv and film affected me and I want to be able to be someone’s comfort show or just make them forget about the world for a second. I also have always loved entertaining and making people laugh since I was young, so realizing “wait this is an actual job people have” I really wanted to be apart of it.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
One of the things I’m most proud of are my parts in the Netflix series F is for Family. I was lucky enough to be brought on and be a part of the incredibly talented cast. I got to watch as they switched between their many characters with ease, and was able to finish the series with them. I think this has definitely been far from easy, it could be worse as could anything, but this career is a constant challenge. You need to have great resilience and perseverance to push through all the “no’s” or hearing people say you are good but not booking. It’s going to take time and you just never know when your shot is going to come and just knowing it will and looking forward to it and keeping up your work and energy for when it does.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
It would probably start as a chill trip to relax.  The first day we would unwind maybe watch some movies. Then for sure we would have to go to Griffith and go for a hike and go eat at Salsa and Beer. We could stop by the Chinese Theater and walk down Hollywood Blvd. Maybe stop by the Ripley’s Believe It or Not museum. Of course a drive up the coast stopping off at the Santa Monica Pier. Depending on the friend and if they want some spooks we could head up to Queen Mary and do one of the haunted tours. Just need good vibes and food really.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would have to shoutout my mom. She has been a constant support, from being a momager in the beginning learning what she could and finding me great classes and workshops, agents and managers, helping self submit and track auditions all while doing her own actual day job as a teacher for children with autism. She’s always helped and rooted for me to succeed and keep going.
