Meet Alyssa Cecchi

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alyssa Cecchi and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Alyssa, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Over the years entering into my adulthood, I’ve realized there’s no easy way to obtain an easy work life balance without trial and error. At 18 I moved from New York to California for a career and education in film. I got a job and especially started to work towards my education. Now that I’m 21, I can say I’m still working towards balancing my work life because I genuinely enjoy being busy. I feel like my attention is being pulled in so many directions but I do believe they benefit me. I’ll learn to take a step back so I can prioritize my needs over my wants.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I first came to Los Angeles I came with the intent to study only acting. The college I was in didn’t meet my expectations regarding teaching me that craft and I transferred to The Los Angeles Film School. Even though there isn’t a major for acting, I wanted to pursue my interests in all aspects of film. That was the best decision I could’ve made for my career. I believe what differs me from others is that i’m constantly wanting to gain more and form new abilities. After working towards my commitment and education in film, I want nothing more than to be a filmmaker. I’m the stereotypical young film student, so professionally i’m always trying to build up my portfolio. From acting and directing projects I’ve part taken in, to projects i’ve gaffed for. I’m given this opportunity to gain an education and i’m making sure i’m not taking it for granted. In regards on what I want to create and what brand I want for myself, it’s tricky to come up with an exact title. I’ve learned that I don’t have to fall into a category to get recognized and that’s what’s pushing me to show what I got. I want the world to know that my brand represents a blend youthful curiosity, embracing learning opportunities and determination.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If I was able to have one of best friends from NYC come to LA it would be a complete culture shock. It would take longer for us to travel place to place, considering we’ve taken buses and trains our whole lives. I’ve always loved walking down boulevards and walking in and out of boutiques and crystal stores, so that’s what I personally enjoy when i’m visiting cities. I’d have to show them the Hollywood sign and Hollywood Blvd, like it’d be criminal not to. I’d take them to The Academy Museum, try In n Out, Northern Cafe, Attitude Cafe, travel to Solvang, Venice beach, Santa Monica and especially to Santa Barbara to eat at The Lucky Penny.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d like to see myself as a very independent, passionate, strong woman but i’m also just a little sister. My older brother Enrico Cecchi deserves recognition for his unwavering support and influence on my journey. Growing up it was always talk in the family that he was the director and I was his actress. So when he had the chance to go to film school and pursue his dreams, he took it. Then when it was my turn, he gave me the right amount of encouragement to chase my dreams with him. I moved to California and now being here for 4 years, I’m beyond grateful Enrico guided me here. Probably never going to say this out loud but I’ve always wanted to impress him with my craft. For the first time recently, I showed him a script I got selected to be filmed as an assignment for class. After reading and of course giving his creative criticism, he said he was proud of me and I love him because of that. Him and I bicker like crazy but his contributions, both seen and unseen, have significantly shaped the path I’ve walked. For these reasons, he deserves recognition not only for his own personal achievements but also for the profound effect he’s had on my life.
