Meet Amanda Crup | Piercer & Piercing Visagist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Crup and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amanda, is there something you can share with us that those outside of the industry might not be aware of?
The piercing industry lives in constant evolution and we as professionals live in constant change of jewelry application techniques and every process before action. few people know the process we have to follow before applying the jewelry. All necessary care with the jewelry and materials used for the perforation must be sterilized in the standard way so that the customer does not have any risk of infection. few people also know that the risk of putting a piercing with the famous “gun” is very high because they do not follow any sterilization process and usually the individual who pierces with this is not able to do this application. Being a piercer is knowing about customer care, body location, jewelry size, quality of materials, hygiene so that there is no cross contamination.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being a piercer has many challenges. when my clients ask for a visagista project, we have to harmonize the jewelry in a way that they combine in a set and also respecting the client’s anatomy. Dealing with customer anxiety is also a point of trust between you and the customer. explaining at all times what the next steps will be and asking them to focus their concentration on inhaling and exhaling helps with nervousness, reduces the pain of the perforation and connects you with the client by passing confidence.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
living in California the diversity of training we have to have fun and have quality time is huge. I would start with the mountains and the beautiful hiking from Tahoe in the summer, go down to San Francisco where we would sit in the parks and admire the architecture of the city, drive along the PCH to Los Angeles.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
all my love for piercing came from a professional that I have a lot of admiration and luck to have learned from him, Eder Marques who lives in Brazil was my mentor, boss, friend who with a lot of patience, knowledge and love for the profession has been developing excellent professionals that today They are all over the world doing a wonderful job.
