We had the good fortune of connecting with Amanda Hunt and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amanda, every day, we about how much execution matters, but we think ideas matter as well. How did you come up with the idea for your business?

The concept for my brand came from my own personal need for the product as a mom of 3! Maternity and Nursing Bras were nor a popular item to shop for and they never had much style to them. I had my first baby in 2016, and quickly realized the selection of bras for new moms was terrible. After having my 2nd baby in 2019, I had enough of trying to make unattractive poor quality bras work for nursing and pumping!

I wanted to create not only functional options for nursing and pumping, but also something modern, young and beautiful for moms like myself! I started designing for myself and using with my own baby. I then turned the designs into something I could make for moms everywhere and brought the product to market!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I always had a love for fashion design and finally found my specialty in lingerie design over 15 years ago. Before starting my brand, I held the position of Senior Technical Designer and Product Development Specialist of Intimate apparel and swimwear for Free People, Urban Outfitters, and Anthropologie.

I love to create and design and I am extremely passionate about all things motherhood. I really enjoy designing functional lingerie for moms just like myself. All of my bras not only have to look good on all different body shapes and sizes, they also have to support growing breast tissue from pregnancy through postpartum and hold every single breast pump available on the market. It’s quite a challenge!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love small town date nights. My favorite would be a local Italian restaurant for dinner followed by a walk around town to grab either ice cream or coffee. And considering most of my friends are also young moms, we most likely will be pushing strollers together with the babies riding along too!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
When I first started this journey of becoming an entrepreneur, I took Sara Blakely’s master class online. I learned so much from that master class, it shaped my start up experience. The advice that stuck with me the most over the past few years is that people are more invested and interested in why I created this product and my story vs the product itself. I continue to share my story and be a real person behind the scenes. This was so important to hear from day 1 and it’s always in the back of my mind. I could not agree more with this statement.
