We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Aka Princess Datwork Calvin and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber aka Princess Datwork, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking.
You have to take risk and not be in fear . In order to achieve your goals you have to get uncomfortable to be comfortable. It’s been risk that I’ve been scared of or intimidated by , regardless of the outcome, I face fear head on . Life is about risk , are u going to take them or fall back ? Me personally I like to fall forward and see what awaits

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My work ? Being an advocate and public speaker. I do it for the people and I do it for the community.

Acting and modeling , I had to overcome a lot of self-confidence ,negative talk , I may not be believing in myself because others didn’t believe in me or want to believe in me, including my own mother

I had a mother that put me down , I was ugly to her and she made sure she told me every chance she got including birthdays , she never congratulated me on any of my accomplishments . And that’s why I have so many faces. To prove to myself that I can achieve and do anything that I put my mind to anything that I want in this world I can have it. But also prove to my narcissist mother that I am more than she’ll ever know. .

Being a published author, I spoke on my traumas, my childhood traumas, my family traumas, and have to live those moments over and over was very hard, but that also made me who I am today and that’s why I’m so strong.

That’s also why I do advocacy work and I volunteer and I get back to the community

I also provide spiritual guidance. A lot of people come to me for answers. They also come to me when they don’t know where else to turn or what else to do nine times out of 10 I understand because I went through what they went through and I went a long time with my voice being silenced now I speak loudly very loud and I won’t shut up And that’s also what has made me successful in all my careers.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m a little different
and my best friend knows that.

My itinerary the beach , buddhist temples, something outdoorsy . Possibly animals involved, some kind of body of water.

Food : soul food , Roscoe’s chicken and waffles for sure or Mexican or Italian. I’m a foodie so I like to find viral places to eat and viral foods to try.

Drinks at a nice classy place where we can dress up

Maybe a hot club or bar with nice aesthetics but I’m not staying long

Possibly nobu . Drinks only a Nobu I don’t eat sushi or seafood. I don’t like it .

Maybe a concert

Food tasting, wine tasting

But that’s about it

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
If anyone deserves credit in my story is me . I need to give thanks to myself and I need to recognize myself. , and I don’t .
I come from a harsh background , i’ve always only had Me regardless who was around me, regardless of family, regardless of friends, peers groups, etc., etc.
Half of my life, people have been trying to bring me down and tear me down and make sure that I do not succeed and I’m overcame and rolled above it all so if anybody deserves credit, it’s me giving credit to myself for not failing
