We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Beaugard and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
One of the first thoughts I had when I started my own photography business was “I could do this myself”. Working for retail studios where their bottom line was quantity over quality services rubbed me the wrong way. For me photography is really an art and a love. Photography is a tool to express yourself or to help tell others stories in a beautiful and meaningful way that will last forever. So for me having a passion for photography fueled me to start my own business and help create a more unique experience for each of my clients.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
As a professional photographer who really loves the art of photography I wanted to create something in this world that would be way more meaningful than just a pretty picture. That is why I created my Campaign called Rediscover: A Journey of Self Love and Transformation, where I highlight different women who have overcome different adversities in their lives and they share that in video interview along with a beautiful portrait. That portrait is then displayed at a Gala event where they get to see it for the very first time. With this campaign I really wanted to celebrate people for being them. We all deserve to feel special and celebrated!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In all actuality I am more of a homebody. But if my best friend were to visit we’d probably hit the beach if it’s a warm day. Some where near the boardwalk in Santa Monica so we could spend all day by the beach. We’d probably catch a happy hour with karaoke and make new friends at the bar!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I really want to thank everyone who saw my gift of photography and sat in front of my lens even when my skill level was at a 2. Over the years I’ve only gotten better and some of those same people still hire me and support and encourage me every step of the way! I’d love to give a very special shoutout to my Husband D’Andre who bought me my very first camera that I had for over 8 years before it broke. I’d also love to shoutout my Aunt Heather who recently told me to “bet on yourself Amber” she motivated me to keep going when I felt stuck. I love you all!
