We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Neubauer and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I have been told in the past that I am a big risk taker. I have never thought of myself in that way. When I reflect on that, I do realize that I have been a risk taker, however, I like to say that they are calculated risks. I think through what the pros and cons are and if I’m willing to accept the cons, then I make the decision to move forward. This has allowed me to start my business, add new contracts, run for the Board of Directors of our cooperative, etc. Ultimately, if it feels right, then it is right. If I didn’t follow my gut and take these “risks”, I would not be where I am today, and neither would my business.

What should our readers know about your business?
By trade, I am a Speech Language Pathologist. When I first started my business, I stayed in the field working with children and families for many years. As the business grew, I realized that I was not able to sustain both working with families full time and helping my business to grow. At that time, I made the hard decision to pull away from the field and dedicate all my time to the business. I had to realize that by making this transition, I would touch many more lives than by working in the field myself. Adding more therapists to my business increased our ability to work with more families, therefore, having a much bigger impact in our community. I also am able to support those therapists and their families by working to increase business ventures and contracts. My primary perspective is as a therapist which keeps me close to my providers and being able to make good business decisions based on what is most important to our therapists and clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would love to take them to places that they can’t find anywhere else. We have Spring Training games, Tempe Town Lake, hike Camelback Mountain. Take them out to Canyon Lake for a boat ride, enjoy an evening at San Tan Flats for some great food and live music. The Olive Mill for having a bite to eat and Sangria in the groves. Taco Guild in Phoenix has amazing tacos in such an eclectic environment. The list is never ending in the Phoenix area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many that deserve a shoutout. My friends, family, colleagues and my business coach, Ray Madaghiele. They’re love and support is what has pushed me through.
