We had the good fortune of connecting with AMBER VALICENTI and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi AMBER, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I really wanted to have more flexibility with my time. For me it is truly about having the freedom to go about my day as I please.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My husband and I own a Transportation business. He’s an Owner Operator. Truly I commend him for all of his hard work, dedication, and impeccable work ethic. His drive and ambition is what fuels my own dreams and aspirations. We work together to build our dreams and future. Aside from owning our Carrier business, we both have a true calling in other areas of entrepreneurship which continues to drive us towards our first line of work. His skills in the Culinary Arts as well as my background in Kinesiology-Exercise Science is where our roots were originally planted.

Together we have a vision that masters obstacles that come along with owning a business. Is it easy? No, but is it worth it? Absolutely. Being a business owner definitely requires a person to utilize their critical thinking skills and always be ten steps ahead. Many lessons are to be learned. You will be challenged on how badly you want your dreams to become a reality. There will be moments when you might not know how you are going to get through the challenging times but those are the moments which shape you into becoming a better version of yourself.

You have to be willing to admit when you are wrong and be proud of yourself when victories present themselves, big or small.

If there is one message that I can express over and over again, it would be to NEVER GIVE UP.
Keep going until you are proud and then continue to move forward after that … don’t stop. There will always be a sense of excitement for what the future holds. So much growth will transpire within you. Although at times you might not feel it, you must be confident, bold, and courageous. Always believe in yourself, think positive, and know your potential. You’ll surprise yourself on how far you can go!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
All the hot spots in Pasadena, Santa Monica, Sherman Oaks. Casa Vega was always a favorite spot in the Valley. Most exciting people are those who don’t worry and just have fun. I love people with great energy who are energetic, funny, and fun-loving. There are so many cool fun places to hangout and I’m literally one who goes with the energy of the day. “Wherever the wind takes us” kind of girl.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have had so many mentors along my journey. Past professors in college and colleagues who aspired to be business owners as well. I truly believe we become like those whom we surround ourselves with most. So if you want to reach higher levels of success then you definitely want to surround yourself with successful individuals who have a life you are striving for.
