Meet Ambre Williams | Children’s Book Author & Newborn Photographer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ambre Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ambre, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I am a Newport Beach newborn photographer and mother to two precious miracle babies. My journey to motherhood was a challenging road that led to the greatest joy in life: becoming a mother. Through a long 10 year journey with infertility, the frozen embryo process and miscarriages, I have a deeper understanding and appreciation of just how special each child is. It was my hope to create a children’s picture book that would help inspire and build confidence in young children whose family may look different than others. So that each child knows how extraordinary and cherished they are.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
In a world where infertility is on the rise, it’s now more important than ever to normalize the topic. It was my hope to create a children’s book exploring the unique ways to become a family through IVF, donor conception or surrogacy. The Best Thing is You inspires children to see themselves as extraordinary and cherished, no matter how their family came together.

I wanted children to see themselves within the diverse characters as they turned the pages and see the similarities between their family and others in the book.

As a Newport Beach newborn photographer, I have many families that have come to my studio that have also had unique journeys to become a family. It only encouraged me more, knowing how special this book will be to families in all walks of life.

Through my long experience with infertility, the frozen embryo process and miscarriages, I have such a deeper understanding and appreciation of just how special each child is.

It is my hope that every child can see themselves as loved no matter how unique their family may be and the powerful message that the love families share can transcend genetic connections.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I were to show my best friend the best time ever, I would take her to Pelican Hill Resort in Newport Beach. Besides the amazing food, gorgeous views and sun sets, the spa and amenities are amazing. The restaurants at the resort are great but there are so many option close by with Flemings, Mortons and Javiers close by. Fashion Island has the best shopping and food as well. With so many beaches close by, we are bound to relax and enjoy the California views.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I told my husband years ago while I was pregnant with our first, that if I didn’t find a book that resonated with what I had envisioned for my children to read, then I would write it. So what started as a story for my children, turned into a reality this year with the love and support of my husband, family and friends.

This book wouldn’t be what it is without the beautiful illustrations by Nicole Steffes, she did an incredible job.

As a first time self-published children’s book author, I had no idea where to even begin. That is until I found Laura Feldman of Little Ivory Haus. A best selling author with courses to help others on their self-publishing journey, she is so knowledgable and supportive.
