We had the good fortune of connecting with Amira Noor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amira, what’s the most important lesson your business/career has taught you?
Patience. I think in the entertainment industry it is extremely important to be patient. There have been times when I have felt like giving up after giving so many auditions and never hearing back. The industry can be frustrating and get very overwhelming but it’s important to not give up and be patient.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a model, actor and singer/songwriter from Geneva, Switzerland. I started modelling at the age of 12 and got into it professionally when I was 18 years old. I moved to Mumbai, India after high school and signed with a modelling and acting agency. I spent a year in Mumbai, modelling and acting in tv commericals for various clothing, jewellery, cosmetic and food brands. I also model in Geneva, Switzerland for jewellery and clothing brands, providing pictures for the brands websites and social media pages. It was very difficult in the beginning as I moved alone to India to start my journey and enter a tough industry. There were times when I felt alone and wanted to go back home. I found it challenging to juggle music, modelling and acting at the same time however, I tried to find time for each one of them and even to this day, I make sure I am balancing them as much as I can.

Currently, I am focusing on my music by releasing songs and collaborating with other artists and musicians. I am also auditioning for various acting roles and continuing my acting classes on the side. I still focus on modelling for brands and have started to expand internationally as I now also model in Los Angeles.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I love LA! I think this city always has something to do. As I love coffee, one of my favourite things to do here is go for coffee. There are so many cute coffee shops I love such as Carrera cafe, Maru, Kreation and Alfreds. For anyone visiting, I would definitely check out the Griffith observatory during sunset as the view is amazing!
I would highly recommend spending a day at the beach in Malibu or Venice. Go out to the bars in West Hollywood and go shopping at the Grove!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shaan Muttathil! Shaan is a celebrity makeup artist from Mumbai, India. He has worked in the Bollywood industry for over 20 years, doing makeup for various actors in around 85+ films. Shaan has been a massive mentor to me in my career. I first met him when I moved out to Mumbai in 2o18 and signed with my first modelling/acting agency. One day, I was called for a shoot and met Shaan on set as he was the makeup artist for the shoot. We got along super well within the first 30 minutes and have been good friends ever since. As I was new to the industry and Mumbai, Shaan was super kind and generous to share advice and tips about the industry. I am extremely lucky to have met someone like him at the start of my career. To this day, Shaan motivates and pushes me to work hard and not give up. He definitely deserves a lot of credit in my story.
