We had the good fortune of connecting with Amirium and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amirium, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?

Music production (and now DJing), has always been a core of who I am.

I randomly started producing music since high school, ranging from emo love songs (inspired by Lifehouse) to harcore rap (lol!). While my music taste has changed over the years, i’ve always found joy in creating songs around moments with friends – whether our last EDC or a trip to Tulum. I never really pursued this as a career until the beginning of the pandemic, which allowed me to dive back into the world of music production, and also learn to DJ!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Living in LA, everyone wants to ‘make it’ in the arts & entertainment space. And the reality is it’s incredibly difficult to truly be unique, especially when it comes to my art – electronic music production & DJing.

But with that said, I always do my best to give people a truly unique set & experience by featuring original Amirium music & live instruments. As an example, i’ll feature live Sax (shoutout Justin Allen), a live dhol drum section (Dhol Nation), and live vocals all in 1x set. While I am fully capable of putting on a great show solo, I find much more excitement in sharing the stage with talented people continuing to collaborate on new originals that I can then perform live. Ultimately, I want people to leave an Amirium show with nothing but good vibes & positivity. That’s the energy I want to put out there into the universe.

As my brand grows, I will always brainstorm new ways to make my Amirium shows more epic, unique & entertaining!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
LA is one of the most diverse and exciting cities to live in, but it’s also super difficult to navigate if you’re not familiar. Here are some of my favorite activities living on the west side, and how I think you should ‘experience’ LA to it’s full potential!

– First stop after the airport, you gotta get some innout! When you’re ready for your next burger, try HiHo in Santa Monica or Marina del Rey.
– The beach is our backyard and you can spend an entire day there soaking in the sun (depending on the time of year). I’d start by grabbing a couple bikes and just cruising the strand. Even better to stop by a few bars for some drinks along the way (such as Belles Beach House). Don’t forget to stop by Great White in Venice to get one of the best breakfast burritos in LA. If you’re up for it, get a little surf lesson too!
– La has so much great food outside of the fancy/bougie restaurants (which are great too!). But you gotta experience a good Korea Town night out with Korean BBQ, Soju and Karaoke!
– While it’s touristy, I will always be a true Disney fan and would always encourage a visit if you’re from out of town. There’s nothing like drinking at the parks 😉
– There’s always great live music happening, and even better if it’s at the Hollywood Bowl. Gather the troops and enjoy who ever is DJing/performing that weekend.
– If you’re truly new to LA, it’s worth going up to the Griffith Observatory around sunset for those epic cityscape views.
– If it’s Summer time, a pool party is a must! It’s been a while, but I used to love going to the Mondrian Hotel!
– Finally, Vegas for the weekend? It’s only an hour away! 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is dedicated to a good friend of mine, who also set me up with this interview – Alicia Chai! We first met at work and she happened to invite me out to one of my first electronic shows at the Hollywood Paladium (Cosmic Gate). She claims I was wearing leather pants, but they were NOT (haha).

Over the years, we’ve shared many core memories together and she’s been the ultimate cheerleader when it comes to my music. Even though i’ve made many hilarious/horrible songs over the years, Alicia understood the intention behind them.

Fast forward 10 years, we just threw our first SOLD OUT ticketed event in LA and look forward to continuing bring unique experiences for our community!

Alicia is only one of the many supporters through out my journey and all others know who they are 🙂
