Meet Amrita Jhaveri | Principal Planner, AMRITA events

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amrita Jhaveri and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amrita, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I have to admit, I’m not always the best at this. I’ve been working on this for years but I’ve made sure to make it a priority. First thing, you must create boundaries. When I first started in the business, I used to reply back to clients within seconds, it would give me anxiety if I had an unread email sitting in my inbox for longer than an hour. But now, I set expectations at the beginning and let my clients know of my office hours and the best way to reach me if there is a ‘SOS’ moment. I am a people pleaser and go above and beyond for my clients (after all, I am planning one of the most important days of their lives), but now that I have a baby, I’ve learned very quickly that I have to give 100% of my attention to one person at time, during different parts of the day.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At AMRITA Events, our main goal is to produce luxury weddings that will create a memorable experience for you and your guests. We treat our clients like family.
We make sure to have consults with potential clients to make sure we both have that initial “spark” . This allows us to help execute your vision to perfection. We aim to customize each element of the planning process to your exact needs, exceeding your expectations along the way.
Nothing ever comes easy but experience, experience, experience and A LOT of networking is how I got to where I am today. I’ve had jobs in travel, hospitality, lifestyle (the list goes on!). Without different past experiences in various industries, I don’t think I’d be able to bring my services to full circle without them.
The one lesson that I’ve learned while on this journey is: If it scares you, it’s worth going for it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m a foodie and love checking out new places to dine at. The day would start with a coffee and bagel at Noah’s coffee shop in Manhattan beach, followed by a stroll on the pier. For the afternoon, I’d take them to Century City and go shopping at Eater LA, they have the most delicious pasta and sauces that you can take home and cook. Sunset drinks, in Santa Monica at Elephante are a must, along with their eggplant hummus that is to die for!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to dedicate this shoutout to my husband. He’s been my #1 supporter.
since the day I came to him and said: ” Hey, I think I want to leave the corporate world and start my own wedding planning business.” If it wasn’t for him, I wouldn’t have taken the leap of faith to go after what I really enjoy doing.
