Meet Amy Apparis | Singer/Songwriter & Producer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Apparis and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what habits do you feel play an important role in your life?
Over the years, there has been so much that’s influenced my music and helped me grow into the artist I am today. But, off the top of my head, I can definitely name a few that stand out. For one, I can’t start my day without jotting in my gratitude journal– it just keeps me humble and reminds me why I do what I do every day! Manifestation goes hand in hand. I’m a strong believer in putting your dreams out into the universe, and that’s why my EP is getting released on October 8th, 2021. I wouldn’t have been able to churn that out without being disciplined. Sitting down and creating beats in Logic every day has become a part of my daily ritual. Aside from creating beats, I’m active on social media, making sure I’m up to date on all of the amazing new artists and music circulating the scene. I’ve learned over the years it’s necessary to show initiative and reach out to creatives I would like to learn from or possibly collaborate with. Networking has allowed me to hone my craft and continue learning through the experiences of others. In addition to these moments, listening to business podcasts has also shaped my mindset and helps prepare me for any future opportunities that may come my way. This routine I’ve created throughout the years will continue to feed my future successes.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Captivating my emotions through melodic measures is art in its finest form. Simply committing to being an artist has been rewarding on its own, but actually releasing my first single last August and putting out a 5-record EP this October has been a true adrenaline rush. Creating beats has always come naturally to me; I have a knack for connecting groovy basslines and funky guitars. Countless late nights (pun intended) are to thank for these small– yet incredibly fulfilling– simplicities. Obstacles are unavoidable in any medium, but with determination, a strong support system, and a passion for music, I have been able to achieve so much. When I release records, I not only look at it from an artist’s point of view, but a consumer’s as well. I know visuals are necessary to invite an audience into a more intimate experience. Music is a relationship, and innovative ways to convey such for every kind of listener is what I aim for whenever I release a record.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Cheers! You’re here! Can’t wait to get this week going with you. I have some great ideas for us. Over quarantine, I installed a home studio and gym, so we don’t have to go far for two of my favorite things — music and fitness! We can start the mornings with a solid workout and progress into an unforgettable jam session. I love to stay active throughout the day, so maybe we can go hiking with my dogs at Santa Susana Pass or trek over the hill to go biking in Malibu! If that’s a bit much, there’s always bowling at Bowlero — a classic Valley staple. If we’re feeling hungry, we can grab a bite from Cava, which is basically Mediterranean Chipotle, or get excessive froyo– extra gummy bears and peanut butter, please! I’m down to end any night with a trip to the movies (In the theatre; there’s no other way! Don’t forget your mask) and let’s hope there’s a Will Ferrel comedy playing. If we’re feeling extra spicy, let’s make our way down to Paolis for a drink, mouth-watering Italian food, dancing, and of course… karaoke! I’ll hate to see you go, but I’m sure this week will give us memories to last a lifetime. Bon Voyage!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are many characters in my story, but the heroes who have saved the day more than once have to be my family, friends, and the found family I’ve formed on social media. Despite their constant support of my music, they’re not afraid to give constructive criticism when needed. For example, while recording my song “Bad Things” in my EP Late Nights, my mother encouraged me not to settle for anything less than perfect. I ended up re-recording the bridge until she knew I was performing at my fullest potential. My friends and family are with me so much while I’m working on a new project that they become as invested in my music as I am. They’re always eager to get a sneak peek and don’t miss a beat before posting it on their own socials to show me some love. So far, they’ve been super supportive and excited about what’s to come and I can’t wait to share with the rest of the world.
